Eileen Hull - Marker Forte August Stamp Release

Hey, Crafty Friends!!

I'm so excited to finally share some awesome news...

Eileen Hull partnered up with Marker Forte to produce premium quality clear stamps!! How exciting, right??!!

Today, marks the launch of the first 3 stamp sets. In celebration of this occasion, the Inspiration and Education teams have collaborated to bring EH fans an assortment of creative ideas using these stamps!!

Here are a few projects I made with the NEW stamp sets...

The first card in my lineup uses

Buttons, Cards, and More

the stamp set...

I inked the library card stamp with Versafine black ink and stamped it onto white cardstock.

Then cut out it out and inked the cards with Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Inks.

Then I labeled one of the library cards "OVERDUE" (included in the set) stamping it in Candied Apple Distress Oxide ink.

Then stamped a couple of tickets onto coral Colored cardstock, cut them out, and inked the edges with more Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink.

I layered these Ephemera over Eileen Hull's beautiful Mandala die, surrounded them with flowers and leaves, and attached them to front of a 5"x7" card.

For this next card I used the

Vintage Damask

stamp set...

This patter measure 4"x 6" but as you can see I used it to create a slimline card.

I simply stamped the image twice. Getting the inked impressions as close as I can together without overlapping them.

The image doesn't make a continuous pattern...

But since I used Eileen's Mandala, no one will even see or notice it. I die-cut 2 Mandalas, 1 in a coral cardstock and 1 in white, and offset it a bit so the white peeks through on the side. Then laid it over the area where the pattern doesn't perfectly match. This creates an illusion that it is a continuous pattern.

I also incorporated the dainty wreath from Eileen's Wreath and Snowflake die set, I die-cut 2 and stacked them directlyon each other for more dimension...

And I also added the William Wordsworth quote from the previously shown "Buttons, Cards, and More" set.

I stamped the background as well as the quote using Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink.

And last, but certainly not least, I created a bright and cheerful card using the

Snail Mail- Everyday Sentiments

stamp set...

I loved the blocked grid frame. You can use it to put any of the included stamped images into the coordinating sized blocks. Or you can also as a interesting background stamp, like I've done below.

I've used the little flowers and leaves as accents, stamped multiples of each, then fussy cut them all out, and added a single flatback adhesived pearl to each flower center.

I grouped my flowers and leaves catty corner from each other.

And use a heart-shaped tag in the center. I inked the edges of my tag with Mustard Seed & Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide Inks. Then tied a button topped bow on top.

In the center of the heart tag. I used the little solid heart stamp from the set stamped in more Carved Pumpkin ink.

I also stamped the word " Congratulations" in more Carved Pumkin ink and cut it into a thin strip.

And I attached both to the center of my heart.

I love how each of these card turned out. Each are so individually different and yet components from each set work so beautifully together!

DIY Dimensional Sticker Embellishemnts

Hello, my crafty friends!!

I have been getting tons of questions on my social media in regards to how I create my 3D embellishments. How do I make my die-cuts look so dimensional? Here is my quick answer... with craft foam and my handy-dandy Xyron Creative Station !!

Today, I will show you how you can create 3D Stickers with the dies you have!! Follow along with me as I use this technique to create this gorgeous Mandala Zendoodle Card!

Distress Oxide Inks- Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry, (Ranger)

Blending Tool, Mini Ink Blending Tool (Ranger)

Tim Holtz- Big Chat (Advantus)

Craft Foam

110 lb Black Cardstock

110 lb White Cardstock

Cutterbee Scissors (EK Success)

I started by making a background for my Mandala... this die is very intricate so I wanted to give it a little bit of heft, ground it, and draw the eye directly to the Mandala and make it the focal point(s).

So, I used the Mandala Die as a stencil and traced around the die with a pencil onto white cardstock.

Then hand cut out the traced image using my scissors.

I blended Distress Oxide inks in Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet, and Picked Raspberry in kind of a "bullseye" pattern, overlapping each color slightly.

Now, here is where the fun and magic begin...

To make my die-cuts 3D, I first run my cardstock through my Creative Station and die-cut it with my Mandala die.

Then, I run my craft foam through my Creative Station and die cut the same Mandala from the foam.

Now, I have a Mandala from both cardstock and foam... and layer the cardstock onto the craft foam!

Then, I adhered that onto the inked background.

I wanted to create a slimline card and decided to distribute the Mandala across the card by cutting it in half.

Then attached the split pieces diagonally across the card front. I could have run my background Mandala through my Creative Station but the thought totally slipped my mind. So, I ended up just running my Xyron Mega Runner across the back instead.

Wow, these really pop off the card!

Even though the die-cuts were absolutely gorgeous "As-Is', I wasn't feeling all the blank space.

So, I took a white gel pen and Zendoodled throughout the blank spaces...

I hand drew a simple striped border. Then outlined each mandala half and added a scalloped border.

I drew arches that I filled with more arches. And even used a leaf die from Eileen Hull's Folio Page, Pocket & Flowers set as a stencil to add leaves.

Then, I filled in some of my patterns for a bolder look and added little polka dots into the remaining blank spaces.

I made a simple sentiment for my card using word stickers from Tim Holtz's Big Chat stack and inked them using more Distress Oxide Inks in Mermaid Lagoon and Wilted Violet.

I adhere the words onto a 1/4" strip of black cardstock.

But I didn't want these to be flat and wanted them to be dimensional too, so I added - you got it- more craft foam behind the words to make them pop up!

And here is my finished card...

Look at how much dimension there is! I angled my card for better viewing...

And even though this card is pretty thick it does not weigh very much. Using craft foam doesn't just make it dimensional, it also makes the die-cut embellishments very lightweight too!

Wave Journal

Hey, Crafty Friends!! I'm back with the Eileen Hull Inspiration Team today and this month's theme is the Gret Outdoors!

I'm not a "woodsy" or "camping" type of person. Growing up on an island, my idea of the outdoors was the beach and the ocean. So today I created a simple Wave Journal. There is something so calming and relaxing about the sound of the ocean and waves crashing on the shore. It's one of the many things about home.

I started by cutting two panels from Mat Board using Eileen Hull's Journal Die. Then, I attached them together using a clear drying liquid glue to attach the spine together making sure to align the holes in the cutouts. I also used clothespins to pinch the pieces together until the glue set. The clothespins are completely optional but it helps to save time by freeing up your hands.

Once the glue was set, I placed the Wave Stencil over the cover (laying it open and flat) and inked VersaMark directly onto the entire surface of the mat board. I wanted one continuous to stretch out over both the back and front covers.

Then, I pour clear embossing powder over the entire stenciled image, dusted off the excess, and heat embossed it with a heat tool.

I applied a series of Distress Oxide Inks over the embossd image. Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers (for the sky), and Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean, and Blueprint Sketch (for the waves).

The waves look absolutely amazing!! I love it already!

Next, I die cut two more cover panels. This time, instead of Mat Board, I used blue cardstock. I then trimmed off the spines into segments and ran all my pieces through my Xyron Creative Station and attached them to the inside of the cover.

I did this after stenciling because I knew I was going to ink up the cover and didn't want to accidentally get them inked or smudged.

Then, I used my piercing tool to poke a hole through the front cover and screwed in a Hitch Fastener.

I threaded elastic cording through the hole located in the center of the spine, threaded through my charm, then looped around the front to create a closure for my journal. Then just hooked it onto the hitch.

For inserts, I cut sheets of graphing paper down to measure 8" x 8.5". I folded them in half so that they were 4" x 8.5" - folded then inserted the papers into a sleeve made from blue cardstock of the same size. And then I stapled the group together using a long reach stapler.

I threaded more elastic cording onto the spines. Nothing fancy here. Just single strands, knotted. Then I slid each book/ insert under the elastic to hold them in place.

And here is the finished journal. It's super simple. Very modern and zen... just like the ocean itself.

I love this charm I found. I cant remember who made it but I do kniw i found it at a Hobby Lobby a while back and it had been sitting in my stash ever since. It has a quote from Alice in Wonderland's Through the looking glass... somewhat Alice's character said her father would always say.

Love it!!

Then, of course, the continuous waves that wrap around the back, around the spine, and then around front...

There you have it...

my Great Outdoors... a trip to the sea on the cover of a journal.
