IAR Monthly Challenge - You Are Loved Card

Hello Crafty Friends!

I started by building my card base from a 5 1/2" x 11" piece of 110 lb white cardstock folded in half to create a 5 1/2" squared card. Then attached a 5 1/4" piece of Kingston Crafts' teal and white polka dot patterned paper using my Xyron Mega Runner.

To create the intricate doily, I ran more white cardstock through my Creative Station machine and die-cut it using my Eileen Hull Mandala Die through a Big Shot Foldaway machine. Because this is a very intricate die, I substituted one cutting plate for a chrome precision plate to ensure that it would cut out each tiny detail. Then poked out all the tiny tidbits with ease with the help of my die brush tool.

I created a simple shadow for my doily by placing my mandala die flat onto a piece of pink paper, also from Kingston Crafts, and tracing out its silhouette. Then cut it out by hand with a scissor.

I adhered the mandala die-cut on top and inked around the edges using Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink and a mini blender tool then attached it to my card base.

Finally, I can start building up those beautiful flowers...

I usually start with the biggest which is the Pink Belinda's Dream Rose. This one I wanted in the center of the arrangement.

Then I surrounded the big rose with a bundle of three Pink Variegated Cherry Blossoms on each side.

Next, I tucked in Pale Green Leaves. I used a total of six.

Then I tucked in draped small Hot Pink Variegated Rose Buds. I used a total of ten of them. You will see all of them in the final card pictures.

I planned on sending this card to a dear friend of mine who is going through a difficult time so I wanted the sentiment big and heartfelt. So I chose this sentiment that says "You are Loved" and die cut the background from vellum and the words itself from more white cardstock. 

Then to blended on more Picked Raspberry ink onto the die-cut to tie it onto the card better.

Lastly. I used these tiny heart-shaped rhinestones and attached them by sticking them onto my mega runner and peeling them up. It applied instant adhesive to the backs of my rhinestones without having to wait for any glue to dry. Then I simply added the gems to my card.

Hello, Crafty Friends! Happy New Year!! I'm back with the Eileen Hull Inspiration Team today and the theme for the month of January is CARDS!! 

I created this beautiful card using Eileen Hull's Mandala and Folio Page, Pocket & Flowers dies from her new Sizzix Chapter One Releases. Keep reading to find out how I created this card.

If you've been following me for a while, you know I love a good slimline card. Slimline cards have risen in popularity and if you ask me... it's about darn time!! I've always liked the crafting real estate of the slimline. So much more play space than the average A2 sized greeting card and ships for the same price!

For the base of my card, I used 110 lb white cardstock. I cut my paper to 8"x 9". Then folded it in half to create a 4"x 9" card.

For texture and interest, I used a 3-3/4" x 8-3/4" piece of corrugated cardstock as a background. 

I took strips of pink cardstock and lined the edges of a 3-3/4" x 6" of this pretty floral paper. Then mounted it onto the corrugated cardstock using my Xyron Mega Runner.

I wanted the Mandala to immediately catch the eye so I used a bold green cardstock that complimented my patterned paper. 

Because the Mandala Die is so intricate, I thought it would be best/ easiest (and less messy) if I ran the green cardstock through my Xyron Creative Station first before die-cutting it with Big Shot Foldaway. Doing this made my die-cut a giant sticker.

Then, I peeled the protective film off and applied it to another sheet of "greenish" looking cardstock- a scrap piece I had on hand, and hand-cut it out with Cutterbee Scissors. 

I used my Mega Runner to add adhesive to the back of the mandala and attached it to the center of my card front and trimmed off any overhanging excess. 

Then attached the card front onto the card base.

I used the flower dies from Eileen Hull's  Folio Page, Pocket & Flowers and the leafy arch from the Floral Arch & Words. 

I cut a total of 6 red flowers, 3 light green centers, 9 black starry flowers (not shown) for the stamens, and 6 leafy arches.

For the stamen flower centers, I grouped 3 black starry flowers, added a dollop of hot glue to each using my Xyron Hot Glue Pen Mini, then stacked them onto each other- stagger their petal in between each other.

For the flowers themselves, I used 2 red flowers each. I misted each flower with water, crumpled them, then spread them back out. Then I zapped them with my heat tool to dry the flowers and stiffen them.

Once they were fully dry I glued the two flowers together and added the light green center and topped them with the stamens.

I grouped my flowers together and hot glued them onto the card front. Then added several premade leaves and the die-cut leafy arches.

Then, finally, created a sentiment using sticker words from the Tim Holtz- Big Chat Stack.

And here is my finished card...

I love the combination of the bold flowers against the soft flowery background paper. And the texture of the corrugated cardstock and the 3-dimensional flowers gives it a nice pop as well without going overboard that your eyes don't know where to look first.

Pretty & Pink Slimline Card

Nautical- Friendships Card- IAR June Challenge

Hey, Crafty Friends!! 

It's the 15th of the month and you know what that means...

It's time for another I Am Roses Challenge!! And to kick off the summer I figured it would be great to do a nautical themed card.

Today, I decided I wanted to make a 5" x 7" card. I started with a 5"x 7" card base made from 110lb white cardstock.

The following are measurements for the other layers...
Red Woodgrain Patterned Paper: 4 7/8" x 6 7/8"
Paddle Patterned Paper & Mat: 3 1/2" x 5", 3 5/8"x 5 1/8"
Blue Star Patterned Paper & Mat: 3 3/8" x 4 3/4", 3 1/2" x 4 7/8"

I applied each patterned paper onto its mat and attached them together using my Xyron Mega Runner.

I die cut light blue leaves using a die from the Tim Holtz's Skeleton Leaves dies set and a white doily using the Tim Holtz Doily die.

I gathered up my I Am Roses Flowers, I used...
Dark Navy Romantica Rose,  Medium White Daisies Daisies, Small Red Curly Roses,
 Small Blue Curly Roses, Red Edge Spring Cottage Flowers, Small Green Daisy Leaves. Then I wrapped the stems around a wooden dowel to curl the stems.

Then I started building my flower arrangement in the top left corner of my card and using a strong clear drying glue, I attached the Large Dark Navy Romantica Rose as the centerpiece. Then I worked my way outward.

Next came the Small Red Curly Roses and Red Edge Spring Cottage Flowers.

Then the Medium White Daisies Daisies.

I tucked the blue skeleton leaves and Small Green Daisy Leaves before finishing off the arrangement with a couple of Small Blue Curly Roses.

 I trimmed the doily die cut and attached it onto the card front and attached it to my card front.

Then, I trimmed down one of my cards from my Voyage Life Cards that read,
"There Are BIG ships and Small ships, but the BEST of all is FRIENDSHIPS".
Isn't this such am endearing sentiment?! I thought that it was the perfect sentiment for the front of this card.

I attached pieces of foam adhesive to the back and added it to the center of my doily.

I finished it off by attaching a couple of seashell charm to the bottom right-hand corner of my card...

And here is my finished card...

I can't say this enough... the detail in these flowers are absolutely amazing!! Just look at the texture and color in these stamens!! They are absolutely gorgeous!!
