Pretty & Pink Slimline Card

Egg-cellent Friend Easter Card

Hey, Crafty Friends!! I'm back with Team Xyron today!!

I hope you are having a HOPPY Monday! 

 It's hard being apart for the holidays but that doesn't mean we can't send our friends and family a little love! With Easter drawing near and with everyone staying indoors I'm taking to sending much needed Easter Blessings via snail mail.

Today, I will show you how I added lots of dimension to my Easter card but still keep it lightweight with an item you probably already have in your craft room!

I had this adorable Joyful Easter set from Pink and Main I thought was absolutely perfect.
Using a MISTI, I stamped my images onto 140 lb. mixed media paper with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Then, colored in my images using Derwent Inktense Pencils and blended out the colors with a water brush pen.

Next, I used a Big Shot and the matching Joyful Easter Dies to die-cut each image out.

And here is how I gave my card that "POP" to add dimension without all the heavyweight and bulk...

I ran a piece of CRAFT FOAM through my Xyron Creative Station. Then ran a piece of pink gingham paper. Then attached both together.

I set that aside for a moment. Don't worry. I'll show you why we needed that foam piece real soon.

I took a 4.75" x 3.5" piece of cloud paper and a 4.75" x 1.5 " strip of green polka dot paper. Then layered and attached the green strip onto the cloud paper with my Xyron Mega Runner to create a little landscape for the front of my card.

And then, here's what I did with my foam...

I die-cut that covered sheet with my Cloudy Frame die, creating a lightweight 3D frame!! And because I previously attached adhesive to the back, it is now a self-adhesive 3D frame!!

Next, I attached it to my card front, surrounding the landscape scene.

For even more dimension to my card, I made even more self-adhesive foam... this time- double-sided!!

I inserted the foam into my Xyron Creative Station but instead of adhering paper, I simply flipped the foam sheet over and ran it through again a second time. This resulted in adhesive being on both the front and the back!!

Then, all I had to do is cut it with scissors to the desired size and shape I needed for each of my colored images.

I stamped out the phrase and sentiments with more Versafine Onyx Black ink and then die-cut them out using Pink and Main's Stitched Ovals Dies. Then attached the "you're an egg-cellent friend" to the front of the card.

I had lots of left-over images that couldn't fit onto the front of my card so I decided to decorate the inside of my card as well and add them there.

I took leftover strips of paper I had from the front cover and cut them down to create a coordinating landscape inside. I attached all the pieces with my Xyron Mega Runner. There wasn't enough to make an exact match but it turned out great anyway.

I think it turned out amazing!!

Star Filled Sky Christmas

For those of you who have been following me for a while, you know that I love to color. I am by no means a professional colorist. Nor do I pretend to know what I'm doing. If I love the results of my coloring then that's all that really matters to me. And if others like my results, that's just extra, I'll take that as a pat on my back too.

A lot of times when I color I tend to stamp several images at once and color them all. Sometimes I use all the images and sometimes I don't. 

I've been coloring a lot of these bears lately. They are just too cute and I became absolutely addicted! And I have made several cards already with this awesome set. But I found that I had an extra bear (that tall guy on the left) leftover that still needed a "home". I didn't want him tossed on the side to get lost or even *GASP* thrown out! So, what else was I to do but to make a new card?

I started with the background. For this project, it became the most important feature. I blended shades of Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch onto a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of white cardstock using my Life Changing Blender Brushes.

 I took a mini water-filled spritzing bottle and unscrewed the cap and flicked on drops of water over the ink shaded areas. Then, I blotted the excess water using a clean and dry paper towel.

The reactive "bleached" out effects of the water are stunning! This technique always gives me so much joy!

But... that was just the beginning of my star-filled sky! For dimension and a whole lot of bling, I wanted to fill that blue sky with literal stars!!

I hate the messy process of wet glue. the sliding around, smeared glue, possibly ruining my ink job and the ever horribly time-consuming/ soul-sucking DRYING TIME. I absolutely loathe waiting for things to dry!!

Thank goodness for my Xyron Mega Runner! I simply uncap, face the application point up, and adhere all the tiny things onto the sticky microdot adhesive strip! So easy-peasy! And the best part... ABSOLUTELY NO DRYING TIME!!

Then, I simply attach the stars onto the blue speckled sky starting from the biggest and trickling down to the smallest stars.

Then I attached the background to an A2 (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") card base made from kraft cardstock.

I didn't have any extra houses or trees leftover so I needed to stamp and color a few of those. Then I die cut them with the coordinating dies.

Then I created a little snowy village landscape using the houses and trees. I simply flipped each image over and used my Xyron Mega Runner to apply adhesive and attached them to the card front.

Then I created a sentiment strip and attached it across the bottom of my village with the little bear peeking out holding a gift.

And here is my finished card...

How gorgeous are those stars?!

Bear Christmas Shaker Card

Can you believe it's not even Thanksgiving?!!  Thanksgiving is tomorrow and it already feels like Christmas! So with that in mind, I'll show you how to make this adorable holiday shaker card that is bound to make you smile with Christmas cheer!

I started by using my MISTI to stamp my images from the Beary Christmas Stamp Set in Versafine Onyx Black onto mixed media paper.

Next, I colored my images Derwent Academy Water-Soluble Markers and Watercolor Pencils and blended the colors out with a water brush pen.

I used my Big Shot with a Magnetic Platform and the matching Beary Christmas Die Set to die cut my adorable bears.

Then, I added tiny polka dot details with a White Gelly Roll Pen.

To build the card base, I folded an 8 1/2"x 4 1/4" piece of 110 lb white cardstock in half to create a standard A2 size card. I set the card to the side and worked on the card front.

I layered a 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" piece of red cardstock and a piece of 4" x 5 1/4" green chevron paper together and attached them using my Xyron Mega Runner.

Once layered together, I used a Stitched Circle die to cut a window through both layers.

I wanted to break up the stark white background but didn't want to get ink around the edges of the card. So I taped off about a 1/4" perimeter. Then used the cut-out as a template to trace a circle where the window would lay.

With a penciled outline, I shaded Distress Oxide- Abandoned Coral using my Picket Fence Studio Life Changing Brushes.

To create my shaker window, I attached a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of acetate behind the cutout using my Mega Runner. Then attached a border of foam tape around the perimeter of the window.

I ran my previously colored trees through my Xyron "X" Sticker Maker and attached it to the center of shaded area.

I sprinkled in a generous amount of Christmas Carnival Sparkletz and topped it the window panel.

I used my Mega Runner to attach the bears around the window. 

Then, I stamped my sentiment onto black cardstock with white pigment ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder and attached it to my card front.

And here is my finished card...

Trick Or Treat Yo'self- Halloween Card

I'm back again and this time with the creepy-cute Halloween card using Maker's Movement's new Trick Or Treat Yo'self stamps & dies! 

Did, I ever mention before that I absolutely LOVE Halloween?! Well, I do!! Immensely! 

In fact, when I saw this Trick Or Treat Yo'self set, I knew I just had to have it! These characters look almost like little voodoo dolls... but cute ones! They were just screaming to be made into a card. And that's exactly what I did. Let me show you how...

I started by collecting my supplies. In an attempt to keep my dies together and to save time, before stamping my images, I usee my to help with stamp placement. I slid each coordinating stamp under its matching die. 

I only snipped the inner dies and separated them out those images could be stamped and cut separately. To snip apart the inner dies I used a button shank remover I had on hand.

Once I had my stamps positioned accordingly, I removed the dies, closed the lid and adhered the stamps to my MISTI. Then inked my images using Verasafine Onyx Black Ink.

I used my Derwent Twin-tip Markers to color the images then blended it out with a water brush.

After coloring my images, I used the matching Trick and Treat Yo'self dies to die-cut them out using my Crossover II machine.

For my card front, I  wanted to create a starry skyline. So I used washi tape and taped

off the upper section of the cardstock. I placed my stencil over the paper and inked on Carved Pumpkin, Salty Ocean, & Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide inks with my Life Changing Blender Brushes.

                                                                                                

I removed the stencil then brushed on more ink over the stenciled background. Carved Pumpkin over the Pumpkin stars, Salty Ocean over the Salty Ocean stars, and Blueprint Sketch over the Blueprint Sketch stars. 

Then I retaped the skyline and expose the uninked bottom portion. I blended on and covered the entire bottom with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink. Then blended the edges with some Lucky Clover.

I removed the washi tape and stamped along the horizon with the fence stamp with more Verasafine Onyx Black Ink.

Then stamped "Trick or Treat Yo'self" at the bottom corner.

I used my Xyron Mega Runner to attach the card front to a black 

Before attaching my images, I wanted to give them a bit of dimension... so I ran a sheet of craft foam through my Xyron Creative Station., flipped it over and ran it through a second time to create my own DIY foam adhesive.

I cut out the amount I needed and attached it to the back of my colored images, then mounted them onto my card front.

And here is my finished card...

These little guys came out so stinking cute!!

A Springy HELLO

It's springtime!! Flowers are blooming EVERYWHERE!! Even in my craft room!!

I can't help but LOVE Spring!! What's there not to love? Winter gloom is disappearing and there's nothing I love more than flowers, flowers, everywhere!

I love to pick them, smell them, wear them, and of course, color them!

And today, I colored up a storm and create a floral card that's sure to brighten your day!

I started by cutting my tan toned mixed media paper down to 4"x 5.25".

I used the floral stamp from Lynda Kanase's Spring Phrases and mounted it to a clear acrylic block. I inked the stamp using Colorbox dye ink in Wicked Black to stamp a floral frame along the perimeter of my tan cardstock.

Then, I colored the floral images using my Derwent Inktense Color Pencils and blended out the colors using a water pen.

To make the stamen details pop, I used a Sakura white gel pen to add highlights.

I die cut these gorgeous flowers and leaves from Lynda's Spring Things die set from white mixed media paper. And then shaded them with my Inktense pencils and watercolored each die cut using my water pen.

While the flowers wet still damp and pliable, I creased and molded each flower then set them aside to fully dry.

Once they were dried, I used mixed media glue to layer and attach the flowers together.

Then finished water coloring the center of the flowers and the leaves.

 I die-cut the layered labels from the Spring Things set. Cutting the larger label in black and the smaller one in white.

I used my MISTI stamping tool to stamp the word Hello (from the Spring Phrases set) in Wicked Black ink. I chose to use the MISTI because quite often mess up on my sentiment stamping and this ensures that they always come out perfect.

Then attached my Hello label onto the bigger black one using my Xyron Mega Runner.

I attached my colored card front onto an A2 card base I made from 110 lb black cardstock. And then attached the label to the center.

I created a multi-loop bow from black twine and glued it to the upper left-hand corner of the label. Then glued the three-dimensional die-cut flower onto the center knot of the bow and tucked and glued the leaves and stems behind the flower. 

And here is my finished card...
