Embossed Denim Pillow Boxes

Hello, Crafty Friends!! I'm back again kicking off another Monday with Team Cut'n'Boss for Craftwell! And we have been going nuts over Teresa Collins' new A6 sized embossing folders!!

Today, I will be using the Deco Circles from the Teresa Collins Embossing Folder set to make textured pillow boxes! And, not just any pillow boxes but DENIM pillow boxes... That's right, I'm going to emboss denim!!!

This special Denim Stack from DCWV has a paper backing that makes it cuts like butter and embosses beautifully!! 

So first, I cut my 12"x12" sheet down to 8.5"x 12". Just small enough to fit on my cutting platform.

I positioned my die face down and ran it through my cut'n'boss machine using the following platform combination...

Note: You will need to two die-cut panels to make one box.

If you have any areas that didn't cut all the way through, use your scissors to snip the attached areas. Then pre-crease the score lines before proceeding. This helps find the creases/ fold lines once it is embossed.

Once they were all pre-creased/ folded, I place my die cut panels (one at a time) into the Deco Circles embossing folder and ran it through my Cut'n'boss machine but this time using the following platform combination:

Just check out these gorgeous results!!

I folded and creased the panel's only flap and added clear liquid adhesive. Then attached a second panel.

I filled my boxes with treats and then tied a bow with bakers twine around each box.

For added decoration, I die cut a few Teresa Collins pocket dies from assorted cardstock.

Then shaded the die-cuts using an ebrush and sharpie markers.

For the flowers, I only ebrushed the center of the flowers. Then made a tiny snip in between each flower petal. Then used a large stylus to shape the flower petals and make the curl. I placed the flowers on a foam mouse pad to do this step.

Then I used more clear liquid adhesive to attach micro beads into the centers of my flowers.

Once dried, I glued all my leaves, stem and flowers to the top of my pillow boxes.

Happy Monday, Crafty Friends!!

I'm back starting off a new week with the Cut'n'boss Team. This week the team we will be featuring the Teresa Collins A6 Embossing Folders!! And for today's project I used the Teresa Collins Alpha Folder (from the Decor & Alpha Pack) to make this bright and cheerful tag.

 First, I started by creating a tag. I used paper from the Autumn Leaves Mini Stack. I wanted to make it a relatively large take but didn't have a tag die big enough. I thought of an easy solution... create my own. I measured a piece of cardstock to 4"x6". 

I snipped a corner of one side of the tag. Placed the cut off piece face down onto the opposite side. Then I used that piece as a guide and cut off the other corner. Doing this helps to make both sides even.

I used a distressing tool to rough up the edges. 

Then, inked the distressed edges with Jumbo Java and an Ink Sweeper.

Then, in coordinating paper, I cut a piece of cardstock measuring 3"x 3-1/8"; and another measuring 4"x 4-1/8".

I embossed the 3"x 3-1/8" using the Teresa Collins Alpha Embossing Folder and ran it through my Cut'n'boss machine.

To emboss with the Cut'n'boss, I used the following platform combination:

One my paper was embossed, I opened my folder and sanded the top layer off the raised impression to make the embossing stand out more. I leave my paper in place on the folder while doing this. This helps keep the raised image from being smashed down.

Then I used left over pieces of cardstock from my previous cuts to die cut leaves and flowers. The great thing about using my scraps is that the paper I used not only coordinates with each other but they also are double-sided. All I did was flip my paper over to give the appearance of different paper, without waste.

After die cutting my leaves and flowers I inked all the die-cuts with more Jumbo Java.

I stacked my flowers biggest to smallest. Then fastened them together with an eyelet.

I folded each flower petal in half and toward the center to make it more dimensional.

Using my Mega Runner, I matted my embossed cardstock onto the 4"x4-1/8" piece. Then attached that piece to the tag base.

I used a glue pen to attach my die-cut leaves.

Then, used glossy accents to attach my flower.

Next, I die cut just the word "DREAM" from the Teresa Collins Frame Die (Noteworthy Set) and trimmed off the ends of the word. 

Then, adhered it to the tag in an arch.

Finally, I punched a whole in the tag, tied hemp twine into a multi-loop bow and fastened it.

And, here is my finished tag...

Upcycled Spice Rack

I am back again with another altered/ upcycled project for the Cut'n'boss team! Today I'll be giving a dated thrift store find into a much need face-lift.

I have a bit of a confession... I love thrift store shopping! I love thinking that most of the treasure I find  have a history. And in each piece there's a story. I'm just taking that story a little further.

Here's a a little wooden spice shelf I found on one of my treasure hunts. It was old, dark, and dated. Otherwise in pretty good shape and dying for a makeover.

 I started by just simply wiping it down with a soapy wash cloth and cleaning off any dust or dirt that collected onto the surface.

Once dried, I gave it a couple coats of white gesso and left it to dry again.

Once the gesso was dried, I traced the panels of the shelf onto patterned paper from the Happy Day Stack.

Then cut out the shapes, slightly inside my trace lines.

Then I ran my cut out paper panels through my Xyron Creative Station Lite.

I peeled  them of the protective film and applied onto the corresponding panels.

Using the two smallest flowers from the Teresa Collin's Girls Best Friend Pocket Die Set, I die-cut 5 medium and 6 small flowers from coordinating cardstock.

I made three complete flowers. The two smallest flowers consisted of three flower die-cuts each. And for the larger flower, I used five flowers.

I separated each into their own stacks. used a scissors to cut about a 1/4" slit between each petal.

Then punched a hole down the centers and secured together with a brad.

And pinched each petal in half and the folded up toward the center.

I repeated this until all the flowers petal were folded, forming a rose.

Then with a hot glue gun, I attached paper leaves and my roses across the arch on top of my shelf.

The hot glued a ribbon tail under the center rose.

Then added two matching bows, one onto each side.

As a final touch, I took an emery board/ nail file and distressed some of the gesso off the edges.

And the result...

A very bright and happy shelf with country cottage charm!!

I love when I make something pretty that is also functional! And I love how absolutely darling this project turned out!!

Altering and Upcycling with Kraft Cardstock

Hello, Crafty Friends!! I'm back this week kicking off this month with the Cut'n'boss team! And for today's project I will be upcycling/ recycling frappuccino glass bottles. I've done some similar projects before but this time I wanted to minimize the amount of supplies needed to make this project and make it relatively simple to make.

I started by cutting my 12"x12" sheet of kraft cardstock into 2- 6"x12" pieces. I laid them on top of one another and placed my dies (blade side down) onto the cardstock using the following platform combination:

I did this multiple times, removing the die-cuts after each run. I rotated and moved around the dies to make the most of my paper.

For each 6pt flower I used 4 cut-outs and for each wavy edged flower I used 5 cut-outs.

 To start off each flower, I stacked them and cut a slit toward the centers (about 1/4" long). Really just a little snip.

Next, I pinched each petal down the center.

Then, punched a hole through the center of each and inserted a metal brad.

Then, staggered the petals so they were not just laying on top of one another.

For this flower, I repeated the first couple steps from the 6 pt flower.

 Cut a slit then stacked them, punched a hole and inserted a brad.

The next step differs a little... 

 I created a bud in the center. I did this by first pinching my petals, on the top flower, in half. I folded them over each other creating a bud, and secured them together with hot glue. 

I did this to only the top flower. For the rest of the petals of the remaining flowers I just folded them in half, like I did in the 6pt flower, and then folded them toward the bud. Wrapping them around the the bud but not securing them with glue. 

The result... a rose. So pretty!!

I wanted to attach my flowers and leaves to my bottle but I wanted to dress up the neck and give the glue something to grip onto. I did this with a bit of hemp twine wound around the neck and secured in place by a simple double knot.

Then anchored my leaves onto the twine and my flowers onto the leaves with more hot glue.

And here is my finished bottle...

Makes for gorgeous "On Display" starage...

OR

a lovely EVERYDAY flower vase.

I very budget friendly option for household needs.

Teresa Collins Cityscape Card- Craftwell/ Clearsnap Collaboration

First, I started by creating a mini city. I used the Teresa Collins Downtown rubber stamp by Clearsnap. I stamped my image several times on bright white textured cardstock using Glitz Gold and Loft black pigment ink pads. I could have stamped my image on smooth cardstock, which would have given me a smooth and even impression, but chose to use textured cardstock because the inked impression would stamp only the raised texture... leaving the depressed areas white... and mimic the look if lit windows in my buildings.

Next, I dipped my freshly stamped images into clear embossing powder and heat set them with a heating tool. 

Then, I hand cut each cityscape out and cut a few into smaller pieces. Then I ran all my little building through my Xyron "X" sticker maker.

I used one solid (uncut) piece as my front, and then randomly layered the smaller pieces behind it, creating a tiny city.

For my card front, I used the "Be Golden" die from the Teresa Collins Noteworthy set... not for the phrase itself but for the circle shape. I found that this die was the perfect size to create a A2 mat (4"x 5.25") sized card window. This is a wonderful way to stretch the use of your die. I also set aside the cut-out to use on another project for later.

Once my window was cut out, I embossed it using the Teresa Collins Design Grids Embossing Folder. I turned my card front at a 45 degree angle and ran it through my Cut'n'boss machine. This gives me a diamond pattern instead of a square patterned impression.

Because this card front is heavily textured I ran it through my Creative Station Lite for maximum adhesion. This will hold it securely to my card.

I applied it to a A2 sized card made with glossy black cardstock. I cut another piece of bright cardstock slightly smaller than my windowed mat and layered the two together. Then attached them to my glossy cardbase.

For my sentiment, I used the " Love These Moments" die, also from the Noteworthy set, and die cut it from more white cardstock. I cut out 2 of these. Then, replaced one back into it's negative and inked the entire sentiment with Glitz Gold pigment ink. Placing my words back into it's cutout helps to keep it in it's place and help prevents tears on my delicate pieces.

Then, I dipped my inked sentiment into clear embossing powder and heat set it. Now my sentiment coordinates perfectly with my stamped image.

I layered the heat embossed sentiment over the white one and adhered the two together with Glossy Accents. Then used more Glossy Accents to attach to my card front.

The result is this ULTRA CHIC and FABULOUSLY MOD card. 

Very Clean and Very Simple!

Perfect card to give to those who love the city and/or city life.
