Fuchsia Blooms Card- For Any Occassion

Hi, Crafty Friends! 

I'm back with Team Xyron with a paper pieced card with a clean and simple look... CAS but kicked up a notch with lots of added dimension using DIY foam adhesive. Let me show you how I created this all occasion card! 

Did you know that with proper care the fuchsia flower can bloom all year round? It is the perfect friendship flower! Just like friendships, you let give it a little warmth, a little sun, and let its gloriousness bloom, and when it gets cold and dark outside bring it in, nurture it, feed it, and it will continue to thrive. No matter the season, no matter the weather, the fuchsia is an all-occasion flower. Tend to your friendships and they too will continuously bloom! 

And, that is why I chose to use these beautiful stamps and dies today. You can make a bunch ahead of time, leave them without a sentiment, and just keep them in your stash, and you can pull one out whenever a need arises.

I started by stamping my images from Stampendous' Fuchsia Trio Rubber Stamp Set with Versafine Onyx Black Ink onto Mixed Media paper using my Mini MISTI. 

You don't need to use a MISTI, I just find a helpful tool that allows me to utilize and maximize the real estate of my paper without the worry of making a mistake.  If it doesn't stamp well the first time or I'm missing ink in a certain area, I can re-ink my stamp and close the lid for exact placement.

I then colored in my images with markers, building up layers. You'll notice in my first image I colored the bottom petal a peachy-pink, this helped tone down the purples I layered over it. The purples by themselves were too bright and blinding. And the slight orangy undertone gave the purple a nice depth.

Once, my images were colored, I used a Sizzix Big Shot machine and matching Fuchsia Trio Die Set to die cut my flowers and leaves.

On a  4"x 5 1/4" piece of white cardstock, I created a soft background by gently blending Distress Oxide- Cracked Pistachio using Picket Fence Studio Blender Brushes and Carabelle's "Filigrane" Art Mask. 

I brought back my Mini MISTI, placed my background into it, and stamped my buds and stamens where I thought they'd hang beautifully.

Then colored the tips of the stamen and bulb with my markers and blended out the color using a Tim Holtz water brush.

Before piercing, I knew I wanted lots of dimension on my card. I don't like scrimping on foam adhesive but brand name foam adhesive tends to come in small amounts and can get quite pricy. 

My all-time favorite budget-saving thing to do is just make my own! 

I have 4 kids, we always keep craft foam on hand... ALWAYS! It's relatively inexpensive and you can get bundle packs in assorted colors for a few bucks... And if you are especially lucky, you can even find them at your local dollar store!

And with the help from my Create-A-Sticker, I can have foam adhesive whenever the mood strikes!

I simply insert my foam sheet, crank through, and tear away the film. If you leave the foam as-is, it makes great foam stickers! It can easily be die-cut or cut with scissors. But if you want double-sided foam adhesive like I do, then simply flip your foam sheet, protective film side up, and reinsert your foam back into your machine and crank it through a second time! And presto, instant foam adhesive sheets!!

Now, I can cut as much as I need or want without having to scrimp and scrounge. I added a generous amount behind my leaves and flowers and set them aside.

For the card base, I used a standard A2 (4 1/4"x 5 1/2"-folded) sized card created from white cardstock. I layered a  4 1/8" x 5 5/8" piece of black cardstock onto the white card base using my Xyron Mega Runner. Then attached the background panel with stamped images over top. 

Once the card base was assembled I was able to start building dimension. I peeled off the protective film and layered my leaves toward the top of my card, just above the bulbs. Then tucked a couple flowers and stems under the leaves and positioned the flowers to go over the stamped stamens.

I added tiny blinged Petite Posies from Queen and Co. over each tiny stamen tip.

Then, added a bit of  Glossy Accents over each teardrop tip and let dry.

Lastly, I used a clear sparkle pen to add shine over each flower. This adds such a pretty shine to all the petals!

I really love how this card turned out. The pictures don't do it justice, it's absolutely stunning in person!

Love and Appreciation

Happy Thursday, Crafty Friends... It's fall and can you believe Thanksgiving is just in one week?!

Thanksgiving is the time of year to be thankful for all they have. For me, I am very thankful for family and friends! I appreciate each and everyone one of them. And though I try to show them I care everyday, sometimes life just get's in the way. I guess that's what I get for "adulting"... mommy & wifey duties, house chores, design team obligations... they all pile up! 

I'm making an active effort to let my loved ones know I appreciate & love them.

I started by stamping my images in black ink onto mixed media paper. then, I colored the flowers with my Zig Markers in Yellow, Mustard, Beige,Dark Oatmeal, &  Brown and went over the centers with a clear glitter pen. I also colored the leaves in Mild Green, Olive green, & Deep Green. 

I fussy cut the flowers all the images out but if you are not great at fussy cutting or just want to save time FB Stamps have the cut files for all their stamps and the coordinating digi dies are FREE!!

I stamped doubles of the bigger blooms and cut off the outer row of petals. then layered it onto the bigger bloom with foam dots.

I wanted my flowers to be an arrangement and not just floating on the card... so, I used Eileen Hull's Tea Cup Die for the cup and the tag. I cut them from Chipboard then adhered my patterned paper onto them with my Creative Station Lite.

I shaded the edges with  abit of chalk in colors that were at least 2 shades darker than the paper.

 The little "I love You" stamp comes included with the Gerbera Daisies set.

In the picture above it looked cute it felt it was missing something...

So, I added some texture to the background with a bit of modeling paste and a stencil.

And cut out a band for my teacup and embossed it and added enamel glitter dots.

I traced around the cup and tags with an extra fine black pen and then added highlights with a white gel pen. I also went over the embossed area with the same black pan as well. 

Then finally, I finished it off with a button topped multi-looped twine bow.

I am enjoying this stamp set very much and I'm looking forward to making more with it!!

February Inspiration Photo and Challenge

Hello, Crafty Friends!! It is already a new month... where is the time going?? Is it just me, or do crafter's always seem to lose track of time? I know when I'm in my craft room "playing", hours seem to just breeze by. And, coincidentally, the same thing happens when I'm shopping at a craft store. Hmmm... I think we crafters enter a different dimension once we cross over any crafty threshold. But, it's just a theory I have, so don't quote me.

Anyway, like I said, It's a new month. A new month means, a new Die-Namites Photo Inspiration Challenge!! WOOT WOOT!! And, with Valentine's Day being just around the corner... well, you know what that means...

Yup, this month's theme... LOVE!!!

For my project, I was inspire by all the red and golds in the inspiration picture. I also stayed true to the love theme.

Here is what I came up with...

I started off by laying my Regal Heart die on the back side of patterned paper and tracing the entire shape of the die and cutting in out.

Then I used the Regal Heart die to cut a heart out of red cardstock. 

I used my ebrush machine an a brown sharpie to shade around the edges of my heart.

I then used a 2way glue pen to adhere the two pieces together.

I then cut out 2 Winged Heart die cuts from white cardstock. The first heart I airbrushed the rose and leave with my ebrush machine and green & red markers. The inked the edges with VersaFine Onyx Black ink and an ink dauber.

The second set of wings, I inked up the edges with the back in again. But cut the heart in half and removed the heart and roses. Leaving only the wings and bottom leaves. Then I eBrushed the wings with a green Sharpie.

Next, I layered the two wings together and mounted my Regal heart with foam adhesive.

For my card base,  I cut my card front down to "x 5.25".

I aibrushed stencil design onto the card front using bronze and brown markers.

I used a 3" circle punch to create a window.

With my Xyron Mega Runner, I adhered my window panel onto black cardstock. And then onto a 4.25" x 5.5" card base.

Before I attached the card front to card base, I added golden branches behind my heart.

I Cut out 2 sets of Budding Branches, trimmed the down to more manageable sized pieces, and tucked them behind the heart. I attached both the branches and lock (onto  the heart)with 3D Lacquer.

And, lastly, mounted the Winged heart onto the card front with foam dots.

And here is my finished card...

I think I really captured the essence of the inspiration picture... even without all the green that was in the inspiration photo.

You're the Beary Best

Hey, Crafty Friends!! Today, I have an adorable card using Oak Tree Stamps' Bear Hugs stamps set.

I know Halloween is around the corner but there's big part of me that is still clinging onto hot sunshiny days.

Supplies Used

 Bear Hugs (Oak Tree Stamps)

Scallop Waves Dies (Pink and Main)

1. Start by stamping your image 3 times... twice on a brown, and once on tan patterned paper with Onyx Black .

2. Cut out the entire first brown bear. From the second bear cut out the head (without ears) and both arms. From the tan bear cut out the the insides of the ears, muzzle, tummy, and paw prints.

3. Pieces together as shown. Place foam adhesive behind earless head and under arms to create dimension.

1. Add Diamond Glaze onto eyes and nose.

2. Set aside to dry.

3. Once dried, add pink chak to cheeks and add white highlights to both cheeks and eyes.

1.  Stamp trees 5 times... 4 times in green and once in brown polkadot patterned paper.

2. Fold each green tree in half and cut off their trunks.

3. Ebrush the backsides of the trees green.

Use the brown tree as a base. Glue the center of each tree to the center of the brown. Each sprayed side should be touching the nex tree. Glue the touching sides together creating one three-dimensional tree.

 Create the rolling hills using Scallop Waves dies from Pink & Main.

The sun and clouds were hand drawn, cut by hand, and then ebrushed.

More 3D dots were used to give the sun, clouds, and bear more added dimension.

 You can really see the dimension from these angles.

As a final touch I glued a rhinestone bow to the front of one of the bear's ear

Cutest Pumpkin

Hey there, Crafty Friends!! Can you believe it's October already?? Yup, it's time to bring on the changing of the leaves. Fall means sweater season, pumpkin pies, and candy! Yes, let's not forget the candy!! Lots and lots of CANDY!! All because of Halloween!! 

Halloween, my favorite holiday of the year! It's gonna be here just in a few weeks and I am, over the moon, excited!! 

And today's projects I want to make something Halloweeny! AND, on top of that, It's my turn to host the KaDoodle Bug Designs Challenge. So, I decided to "kill two birds with one stone" and combine both.

This KaDoodle Bug challenge is ALL ABOUT TAGS!!! 

If you would like to enter you can join the KBD Challenge Group.

Each challenge last for 2 weeks. Lots of time to get your projects in. The current challenge's deadline is October 16th. You have until midnight CST of that day to enter your projects into that challenge gallery.

For my TAG I used KBD's Charmkin Cuties - Pumpkin Baby.

 I've loved him from the very first moment I saw his bald little head and adorable binky!! I finally got to use him and I'm so glad I did!! He came out super adorable... even better than I imagined!!

Of course, it being a paper piecing, I just had to airbrush him with my ebrush. 

Which is great because I ran out of peach / flesh colored paper and made my own by ebrushing white paper (yes, WHITE paper) with my Spectrum Noir markers in FS4 and FS9. I bet you couldn't even tell it start off as white paper, could ya??!!

I ebrushed the rest of him in a combination of Spectrum Noir and Sharpie markers to get his finished look. I'll post the complete list of markers in the supply list below. 

I know when I say tag most people envision a small 2"x3" or 3"x5" little thing... but that is soooooo not the case when it comes to my tags... I like making my tags HUGE. And, this is no exception. This tag is a nice whopping 5.5"x 8", which commands attention when tied on gifts. Which is exactly what I want. LOL

Look at his adorable face... and those eyes, they make it so hard to not stop and stare, right?! And I found the most perfect sentiment in my stamps set from Pink and Main! It was from last month's FREEBIE( w/ purchase of $30) stamp set called Pumpkin Mouse.

 And, the die I used to cut out the sentiment is also from Pink and Main. It is from their Stitched Greetings Dies Set.

Topped it off with some black wired ribbon I bought years ago from Sam's club... and, it was perfect and screamed Halloween CUTENESS!!

For my card I started off by Cutting my "branch" from my Tattered leaves die. I cut out 2 of these, 1 in a light green cardstock and the other in chipboard.

Then with my ebrush machine I airbrushed my leaves using my green, orange, and brown Sharpies.

I knew I wanted my card to be a shaped card so I cut the base and nested panels from my Label one dies. Then set aside.

For my I knew I wanted a little bird to be perched atop my branch. KaDoodle Bug Designs has lots of adorable bird files but this one caught my eye and I instantly fell in love. I think it's because of my island upbringing... go figure that I would be drawn too something more tropical.

This one is called Tropical Birds... LOVE IT!!!!

In the clipart included with the file this toucan is multi-colored... I didn't want to have to cut several different colors of paper... it wasn't the look I was going for. I wanted a more traditionally colored toucan. And, besides, I was feeling a bit lazy... but ssshhhh, you didn't hear me say that! So I only cut my toucan in black, black, and gray cardstock. Then I just ebrushed the pieces that needed color, like my beak and feet.

Then I glued the pieces together using a 2way glue pen.

I used foam adhesive dots to give my toucan more dimension. I place my leaves into the appropriate spot, as to look as if he is perched on the branch. Then I adhered the foam dots around it. 

Now time to assemble my card... I used my Xyron Mega Runner to adhere my panes to my card base.

Then I stamped my  "be happy be bright be you" sentiment using my VersaFine ink pad in Onyx Black. 

Then adhered my branch to my card base using more 2way glue. After setting my toucan down I finished off my card by adding flowers with rhinestone centers to my branch.

And here is my finished card...
