Making Spirits Bright Bear Card

I'm back with another simply adorable holiday card to share with you all!

Christmas is just a couple weeks away! And it's not too late to get your crafty self into cardmaking gear. Sometimes with all the hustle and bustle, we find ourselves too busy to make elaborate Christmas cards... so why not opt for something more simple? Take colored images, pair it with gorgeous paper flowers, add a few tiny embellishments sprinkled in, and... tah-dah a super easy, super quick, and so super cute!!

Today, I wanted to make a bigger more substantial card and if you're an avid I Am Roses fan, then you know why! Many of their wonderful flowers are quite large. And placing too many large flowers onto a standard A2 (4.25" x 5.5"-folded) card just will not do. Anything else you attempt to put on such a small space would feel crowded. So a bigger surface area is always great to accommodate larger items.

I started by creating a 6"x 6" card base from red cardstock. which I layered with a 6"x6" piece of black cardstock and 5 7/8" x 5 7/8" piece of white cardstock.

Then, I took a 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" piece of houndstooth patterned paper and die cut a circle window from the center. Then I adhered all the layers together and stamped my sentiment across the bottom of the window and set it aside to dry.

This was by far the hardest and most lengthy process of the whole card... coloring the images! LOL

Seriously though, it was! Then I die-cut the images out and added tiny details onto their scarves and presents using a white gel and black micron pen.

Time to add some POP to my card...

I ran a few leaves through my Xyron X Sticker Maker, then laid down a leafy base onto my card front.

Once I laid down my leaves, I added my bears to give myself an adequate amount of space for flower placement.

Then, I added my Red Gardenias and White Tea Roses, always starting with the biggest flowers first. Once glued down, I added a little collage medium into my flowers then dusted them chunky glitter.

Finally, I added my sprinkled bits of candy shaped embellishments and tied on a twine bow...

Bear Christmas Shaker Card

I'm back with Team Xyron today!!

Can you believe it's not even Thanksgiving?!!  Thanksgiving is tomorrow and it already feels like Christmas! So with that in mind, I'll show you how to make this adorable holiday shaker card that is bound to make you smile with Christmas cheer!

I started by using my MISTI to stamp my images from the Beary Christmas Stamp Set in Versafine Onyx Black onto mixed media paper.

Next, I colored my images Derwent Academy Water-Soluble Markers and Watercolor Pencils and blended the colors out with a water brush pen.

I used my Big Shot with a Magnetic Platform and the matching Beary Christmas Die Set to die cut my adorable bears.

Then, I added tiny polka dot details with a White Gelly Roll Pen.

To build the card base, I folded an 8 1/2"x 4 1/4" piece of 110 lb white cardstock in half to create a standard A2 size card. I set the card to the side and worked on the card front.

I layered a 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" piece of red cardstock and a piece of 4" x 5 1/4" green chevron paper together and attached them using my Xyron Mega Runner.

Once layered together, I used a Stitched Circle die to cut a window through both layers.

I wanted to break up the stark white background but didn't want to get ink around the edges of the card. So I taped off about a 1/4" perimeter. Then used the cut-out as a template to trace a circle where the window would lay.

With a penciled outline, I shaded Distress Oxide- Abandoned Coral using my Picket Fence Studio Life Changing Brushes.

To create my shaker window, I attached a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of acetate behind the cutout using my Mega Runner. Then attached a border of foam tape around the perimeter of the window.

I ran my previously colored trees through my Xyron "X" Sticker Maker and attached it to the center of shaded area.

I sprinkled in a generous amount of Christmas Carnival Sparkletz and topped it the window panel.

I used my Mega Runner to attach the bears around the window. 

Then, I stamped my sentiment onto black cardstock with white pigment ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder and attached it to my card front.

And here is my finished card...

Roller Coaster Card with Xyron & Lawn Fawn

It's FRIDAY-FUNDAY here with Team Xyron and we are winding down our week-long partnership with our awesome friends at Lawn Fawn.

And today's project pretty much summarizes my past couple months of CRAZY! LIFE, what can you do? Am I right?? Well, let me tell you that more times than not life throws you for a loop and slaps you with the unexpected. But if you have a great support system your temporary obstacles become more maneuverable. 

We all could use some sunshine and rainbows on our cloudy days... and sometimes it take a friend holding an umbrella can help us get out of the rain. 

... And that is why I made this today's adorable card

I have a dear friend going through a rough patch. I created this card to remind her that I am always here for her and she doesn't have to go through it alone.

First, I stamped my images from the Coaster Critters onto Strathmore Mixed Media Paper using a black archival ink. Then, I colored my images in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. To add more detail and depth, I added shadows with Derwent Procolor Pencils.

I used my Sizzix Big Shot with a magnetic platform to die cut the images out using the matching Coaster Critters Die cuts.

I like to spread all my pieces out and play with the arrangement before committing and gluing anything down.

 I knew I wanted a soft background that looked like the evening sky. So, I used a makeup brush to lightly blend the Heliotrope(purple)  onto plain white cardstock.

I applied color heavier at the top and worked my way down and softening the color as I go down,

I trimmed my background piece down to 3 7/8" x 5 1/8".  I trimmed a 1" x 3 7/8" piece of green plaid cardstock. Then I used my Mega Runner to attached it to the bottom for grass.

Then, I adhered that piece onto a 4 1/4" x 5.5" piece of rainbow plaid.

I mounted that card front onto an A2 sized card base made from plain white cardstock.

I love how Lawn Fawn included options to personalize my booth. I chose to stamp the word tickets onto mine. 

I wanted to make all my little pieces pop off the card but couldn't find my foam dots...

No problem!! I had tons of crafts foam laying around. I simply ran a sheet through my Creative Station, flipped it over, and ran through again. And presto, instant handmade foam adhesive sheet!!

I cut the foam sheet into tiny pieces and applied them to the back of all my little images to give them tons of dimension and assembled the pieces onto my card according to how I had laid them out earlier.

My card still needed a sentiment. I used the sentiment that reads " Life is full of ups and downs". I placed the stamp into my stamping tool to stamp my sentiment with clear embossing ink onto black chalkboard cardstock. Then, sprinkled white embossing powder over the top, heat emboss it, then cut it down to about a 3/8" strip.

I added some of my homemade adhesive foam to the back and attached it towards the top of my card.

Then, I stamped "Let's roll with it together" in black ink onto the inside of the card.

And here is my finished card...

I totally love all these little critters!!  I have this little guy manning my booth selling tickets.

And this cutie has her ears and balloon flying backward because the roller coaster is going so fast.

And what carnival is complete without cotton candy?!! YUM!!

As you can see there is just so much you can do with these little cuties... there are so many possibilities!!

I can't wait for my friend to see it!! She could use something bright and cheerful! I'm pretty sure this is just enough happy to put a smile on her face.

2018 Stamping for Autism Awareness Blog Hop

Hi, Crafty Friends!! 
Today is Autism Awareness Day and I am participating in the 2018 Stamping For Autism Awareness Blog Hop! We are raising awareness and encouraging acceptance for individuals with Autism around the world.

We know that Autistic individuals don't communicate in a way that society deems normal. And sometimes everyday situations, easy tasks we take for granted, can be a struggle. But just because they are different doesn't mean they aren't capable. Capable to feel, to understand, or to do. They just have a different way of expressing themselves and communicating.

We are here to support and better understand our family and friends with Autism. And a great way to show support is to send words of encouragement. Just a little encouragement and "you can do it" can go a long way. You never know, a random act of kindness can mean the world to someone, no matter how small the gesture.

So, today I created this adorable card, especially for the hop.

 It goes to show that anyone can achieve great things!

I started by stamping my images from the Plane Sweet stamp set onto 140lb Mixed Media Paper with Black India Ink. 

Then colored them with Zig Clean Color Markers in:

No.43 - Olive Green, No. 46 - Mid Green, No. 72 - Beige, No. 64 - Oatmeal, No. 93 - Green Gray, No.91- Light Gray.

One of the many things I loved about this set is that there are little sentiments that fit right into this tiny banner... I used the one that says "take flight".

For my card base, I created a standard A2 (4.25" x 5.5"- folded) from white cardstock. I used the largest stitched rectangle to cut green striped chevron looking paper from the Spring Fling paper pad. Then I used the second largest banner from Large Fish Tail Banners to cut this blue polka dot paper from the Celebrate paper pad. Then I used the 5th largest circle (2.5") to cut plain white cardstock.

I layered the rectangle and banner onto my card front using my Xyron Mega Runner.

 Then shaded the edges of my circle die cute using Cape Cod (light blue) ink from the Boardwalk Petal Point Ink Pad.

I made little clouds from white cardstock and shaded the edges with Bahama dye ink.

Next, I stamped Sky's the limit onto more white cardstock and die cute it using a label from the Stitched Greetings Dies set. Then shaded around the edges using Olive (darker green) color, again from the Boardwalk ink pad.

I added 3D foam behind the little guy in the airplane and behind the banner.
Then arranged the circle and cloud onto the card. Then adhered the images to look like he was flying through the air.

I added more 3d dots to my sentiment and attached it to the bottom of the card.

Then, finally, tied hemp twine around the top of the card and topped with a button topped bow.

And here is my finished card...

It's summer and the temperatures have been getting pretty high. So, for today's project, I made this super "sweet" panda eating an ice cream cone card that reads... "you're so SWEET". 

I just love his little aviator sunglasses ... and well, I love ice cream!!

I started by stamping my image with archival black ink onto mixed media paper. Then I colored the image with distress markers and blended out with a water brush.

I die cut two stitched rectangles from patterned paper. I used pink polka-dot from the Shades Of Spring Paper Pad and the black with turquoise hearts from the Spring Color Pop Paper Pad.

I used a 2-1/2" wide piece of chipboard laid it at a diagonal to trace around the sides. Then cut out the diagonal strip.

I used my Xyron Mega Runner to attach the strip to the front of the remaining stitched rectangle.

I attached foam adhesive to the back of the panda to add dimension and applied him to my card front.

I die cut 2 sets (both word and shadow) of the word Sweet from the Sweet Dies set. One in White cardstock and one from the same polka-dot pink paper from earlier.

I placed the pink word into the white shadow and glued it onto the black diagonal strip.

Then used my Xyron Mega Runner and attached my card front onto an A2 sized card made from black cardstock.

Then stamped the words "you're so" from the Hello Sweet stamp set in black ink.

And here is my finished card...
