Happy Haunting- Jack-o-lantern Trio Card

Hey there, Crafty Friends!! 

I'm baaaack! And, do you know what else is back?? FALL!! And if it's fall, it means it's time for pumpkins! And if it's time for pumpkins, then it means time for jack-o-lanterns. And if it's time for jack-o-lanterns then it means time for Halloween! And if it's time for Halloween, then it means it's time for candy!! And for me, candy will lead to a sugar coma... so I think it's for the best if I just stick to crafting... it's safer! LOL

So, in the spirit of fall and all that is creepy, kooky, & sweet, I created this adorable Jack-o-lantern Trio Card...

 The wonderful people at Maker's Movement were generous enough to send me some awesome goodies to play with for today. And even though this is a sponsored post, all ideas, thoughts, and opinions are my own. 

If you know me and have been following me for a while, you'll know I am a huge Halloween NUT!! I was born 2 or 3 weeks overdue and born the day before Halloween. My mom was so set on not having a baby on Halloween day that she set out and went for a jog the day before in hopes of jump-starting her contractions. Well, it worked, and she gave birth to a healthy baby girl on October 30th... OH MAN, I WAS SO CLOSE!! So now, every year it has become a tradition for us to have a party on Halloween and celebrate then. How fun is that?! I mean, how many people can actually say that they get to have a costume birthday party every year?!

So when I saw these pumpkins stamps and that rolling hill of haunted houses die, I knew they had to be mine! And even if the awesome people didn't send me these, these are set I absolutely would've purchased myself!

In creating this card, I started by first stamping my pumpkin images from the Happy Haunts Stamp Set onto 140 lb mixed media paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink. And then colored my images using markers water-based markers. I absolutely LOVE coloring pumpkins!! 

Then, I cut down the paper with my Swingline trimmer and ran both the pumpkins and a 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" strip of black cardstock through my Xyron Create-A-Sticker. There is lots of real estate space through that opening and wanted to utilize as much space as I could. This stuff is like gold and... waste not, want not, right?!!!

Then, I used the matching Happy Haunts Die Set, detached the pumpkins and die cut the pumpkins and the haunted houses, both at the same time.

I then stamped the silly jack-o-lantern faces. I could have done this first, but totally forgot (insert face-palm).

Using my blender brushes I inked on Distress Oxide inks in Carved Pumpkin, Worn Lipstick, Wilted Violet, and Blueprint Sketch. Then brushed on a bit of Black Soot around the edge.

I flicked water droplets onto the inked surface, then blotted it with a paper towel.

Once again I used the haunted houses die, this time not to die-cut the houses but to die cut the rolling hill. I simply laid the die-cut across the top of a 2"x6" strip of green cardstock and ran it through my Crossover II machine. I just used the cutaway portion that was leftover.

Then brushed on Mowed Lawn and Green Clover Distress Oxide inks to add depth to my hills.

I used my Xyron Mega Runner to attach my hill onto the inked background piece.

 Then attached the haunted house die-cut I turned into a sticker earlier.

I stamped out the words Happy Haunting in Brilliance Starlight Silver ink onto black cardstock, dipped into clear embossing powder, then heat set it.

to give my pumpkins added dimension, I made DIY foam adhesive by running a sheet of craft foam into my Xyron Create-A-Sticker, flipping it over, then running it through again so that I could have adhesive on both sides. Then I can cut as little or as much as I need.

I cut my Happy Haunting into a little flag and added my homemade foam adhesive to the backside of it and my pumpkins.

I attached my spooky background to a standard A2 (4.25" x5.5") sized card made from black cardstock. 

But then decided to add black twine. I wrapped the twine around the bottom of the card twice then tied button topped bow over the top.

Then, I finally added my 3D pumpkins and sentiment to the car front.

And here is my finished card...

I love the silly faces!! They are so cute and bit whimsical and a whole lot of fun!!

Creating Two Seasons with One Stamp Set

Hey, Friends!! I'm back again with Team Xyron today!!

And brrrrr... It's cold outside!! It's not even Thanksgiving and temperatures have begun to dip. I'm hoping that Mother Nature makes up her mind. I mean, it is still technically fall, right?!  Supposedly we still have 37 more days of fall to go... say what?!! Yup, that's right, winter doesn't officially begin until December 21!!  I don't know about your neck of the woods, but in my area, the frigid air here screams WINTER!!

So what is one to do... Craft for Fall or craft for Winter??

Well, if you're ever stuck in that sort of dilemma, let me give you a tip, buy products that are dual or multi-purpose! Like this set from Waffle Flower called Hello Pumpkin.

This set can be used throughout your year-end holiday seasons. It's filled with jack-o-lanterns, pumpkins, and sweater wearing mice!! And did I mention the cute latte and coffee/ cocoa accessories? 

You can literally use this set to craft from Halloween to Christmas just with this one set!

But since Halloween has already passed, I'll show you how I created these winter and fall cards below.

I started by using my Misti Stamping Tool to stamp my images from Waffle Flower's Hello Pumpkin onto a piece of watercolor cardstock with ColorBox Wicked Black Dye Ink. I colored all the stamped images in using Derwent's Procolour Pencils. The watercolor paper is quite textured and it has a nice tooth for the pigments in the pencils to grab onto. 

The trick with these pencils is to have a light hand. Apply gentle pressure and work in layers. If you apply too much pressure you burnish the color down and rid the paper of its tooth so the paper can no longer grip anymore color. 

Here's a trick to change seasons... switch out your color palette! Yes, it's that simple. With the exception of stamps that are obviously specific to a certain holiday or event, simply changing the color palette can result in a different feel and theme.

For example, I colored some images in oranges, greens, and browns (fall colors), while others were blues and purple (cool winter tones) or greens and reds (traditional Christmas colors).

Once I was done coloring I cut my little munchkins out by hand. The matching set of dies is available for this set but I find hand cutting images relaxing so I don't mind the fussy cutting.

 Coloring images can help set the mood and determine theme but so can paper!! Paper is, in my opinion, the biggest & easiest way to change the feel of your project. 

Again, I opted for more neutral tones... greens, oranges, browns, and yellows...

These shades make up the palette of my Fall card. And all my patterned paper came from one paper stack... DCWV's Fall Basics Stack.

I cut the card base to 9 1/4"x 8" and folded it in half (9 1/4"x 4" -folded).

The yellow striped mat measures 9 1/4"x 3 1/4".

And the plaid paper measures at 9 1/4" x 3".

I used my Mega Runner to adhere the first mat to the base. Adhering the piece straight down the center of the card.

I used my Big Shot with the magnetic platform and a circle die to cut 3 windows down the center of the mat. Then again, used my Mega Runner to adhere to the yellow striped paper.

I attached the leaves at the top center of my card. Then attached a small twine bow over top.

Then, I topped off the bow with an acorn center.

I added foam adhesive to the back of my critters to give them a little dimension and placed them each into a window.

Then to finish this card, I simply stamped the sentiment "Hello Pumpkin" in black ink.

Look how adorable it is! So simpl and oh so cute!!

For my Winter card... 

Even more quick and easy... Remember, I had already colored some of my images in winter and Christmas colors...

Then, I created this easy A2 (4 1/4"x 5 1/2") sized card base matted it twice giving each mat a difference of 1/4"

Mat #1- 4" x 5 1/4"

Mat #2- 3 3/4" x 5"

Layered and attached them with my Mega Runner.

Stamped the "You & me" sentiment towards the center of the card. Then added my "dimensional" mice (one on each side of the sentiment).

I almost forgot to give them their little beverages... I love how this set comes with the little latte and cup of hot cocoa (it can also double as coffee for all you coffee lovers)!!

Then, finally added my bow and stamped the words "perfect blend" underneath the little mice.

And...

TAH-DUH!!

EEEEKKK!! Yup, I'm squealing like a little mouse! These are just too flipping cute! I'll be definitely getting tons of use from this set for sure!

Happy Thanksgiving- Farm Harvest Card

Hello, Friends!! I'm back with Team Pink with another adorable project! 

I am so glad that the summer heat is dying down. It hasn't gone down that much here in Texas and we still have weather in the low to mid 90's but that is far cooler than the nasty 114-118 temps we've had during the height of summer... Um, Thanks but NO THANKS... I think I'll stay my behind inside!

By next month for sure, we should feel a significant temperature drop. And then HELLLOOOO Fall!!

Then we know what that means... it's time to prep for the one day it's acceptable to gorge till we pass out! THANKSGIVING!! YES!!

And because of this occasion, I decided to make this adorable Scarecrow Farm Harvest card.

I made a 6x6 card using the brown plaid paper from Pink and Main's Pumpkin Spice and the blue cloud patterned paper from the Take Flight paper pad.

Paper Measurements

Brown Plaid: 6" x 6"

Black Cardstock: 5-5/8"x  5-5/8"

Cloud Pattern: 5-1/2" x 5-1/2"

Green Strip: 1-1/2" x 5-1/2" 

 I used Eileen Hull's House Pocket die to create the little barn in the background.  I just added 2 doors instead of one and I cut 1/8" strip from white cardstock and formed X's over the front and layered them on white rectangles that were 1/8" bigger than the doors. Then use o small window laid sideways for the top window the barn.

I attached the barn onto the front of the card using my Mega Runner. Then layered my stamped images in front. First applied the corn stalks then added the scarecrows on top, adding foam adhesive to the backs for added dimension. Then I topped off with a row of pumpkins, again adding foam to the backs for even more dimension.

Lastly, I adhered the whole card front to a 6"x6" mustard yellow card base. Then stamped the phrase Happy Thanksgiving from the Turkey Day Stamp set onto the barn using white pigment ink.

And here is the finished card...

And then... at the very last minute, even after all the picture taking was done, I decided to add a bow... LOL hahaha, I love where creativity takes me!

I started my project by stamping multiple images onto mixed media paper using Versafine Onyx Black Ink.

Then, I outlined my image with my image also adding in shading with just short flicking strokes. then I took a water brush and activated the the ink with water and blended out the color.

I trimmed down my sheet to fit int my die cut machine, then used my (not yet to be release) Stitched Circle Dies from Pink and Main, to cut out my colored images.

I also die cut some scalloped Circles to layer my crows onto. This beautiful green polka dot paper if from DCWV's Autumn Leaves Stack.

I ran my stitched circle through my 3" Xyron Sticker Maker, and layered it onto a scalloped circle die cut.

Using more coordinating paper from the Autumn Stack, I cut out multiple treat boxes and folded along the seams. Then applied adhesive onto the flaps and adhered and assemble my treat boxes together.

Then I die cut out little banners from scraps from my mixed media paper and Onyx Black ink I used earlier. Then I stamped "Happy Fall Y'all" onto each banner. 

The awesome thing about these being clear stamps ... I  can see where I'm stamping AND I can bend and manipulate the shape of this die. Notice how I was able to slightly bend my words and follow the curve of the banners.

Once the ink was dried on the banners, I attached them to the front of each box.

Then attached my scallop circles to the back panel with the handle. 

Then finally, I added twine bow offset to one side and filled my carrier box with candy.
