January IAR Challenge- Pure Love Card

Happy Hump Day!! 

It's Wednesday, January 15th, 2020... And that makes this the FIRST official I Am Roses Challenge post of the year!! 

If you've never joined us for a challenge here is how it works...

For this month's challenge, I created this long gorgeous #10 sized card. Valentine's Day will be here real soon and love will soon fill the air! But instead of using red flowers I used it as a background color. It gives my beautiful white blooms a great base and really makes them pop!! Don't you think?!

I started with a #10 (9 1/2"x 4 1/8" card base made from black cardstock. A white mat measuring 9 1/4" x 3 7/8". And then my red polka dot mat measuring 9" x 3 1/2".

I ran the red polka dot paper through my Xyron Creative Station then used one of my Tim Holtz Mixed #5 dies and my Sizzix Big Shot with a magnetic platform to cut out a flowery silhouette on one end. I flipped the card over and repeated the same thing on the other end of the card.

Once I had the flower silhouettes cut out, I adhered it onto the white cardstock mat and then onto the black card base using my Xyron Mega Runner.

Then I attached my beautiful White Peonies. I cascaded them toward the bottom. Tucking in small and tiny green leaves under the peonies. 

I saved the stems from the peonies and created little swirly vines by wrapping them around a thin wooden dowel. then tucked those in and glued them in place.

Lastly, I placed my little Love HEarts Sparkletz onto the belt of my Mega Runner to attach adhesive to them and neatly placed each tiny heart around my card.

And here is my finished card...

There is something about white flowers that is so BEAUTIFUL & PURE! I absolutely LOVE them!!

I love the brilliance of these white peonies against the red background!

It's absolutely breathtaking!!

I Am Roses October Challenge- Thank You Card

Hello, Crafty Friends!!
It's October 15th and time for another I Am Roses Challenge!! 

I may be a bit biased but October is my favorite month of the year- let me tell you why... 

1. Out with hot weather, in with the sweater weather.
2. Fall. Pumpkins. Scarecrows, & Hay Rides.
3. It's my birthday month!
4. Let's not forget Halloween!! CANDY!! "Nuff said!!

And with all those wonderful things in mind, I decided to create this gorgeous fall-inspired Thank You card for my challenge project.

I started by creating a #10 (9 1/4"x 3 7/8") card base from kraft cardstock. Then layered it with a 9 1/8" x 3 3/4" piece of white cardstock, followed by a 9" x 3 5/8" piece of corrugated cardstock and used my Xyron Mega Runner to attach the layers together.

I cut a piece of patterned paper from DCWV's Autumn Leaves Stack an attache it to the card front. I made sure to make it as wide as the corrugate and torn on both ends. Sadly, this stack has been discontinued- but a digital download version is available through AC Digitals.

I ran a small piece of white cardstock through my 3" Disposable Sticker Maker then die-cut four sprigs using my Big Shot machine and Tim Holtz's Funky Floral #2  dies. 

Then I inked on Distress Oxide Ink in Fired Brick with one of the small Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence Studios.

I also die-cut some Tim Holtz Skeleton Leaves from Rose Gold Luxury Cardstock. I forgot to back my paper with adhesive first, so I quickly ran my die cuts through my 3" Disposable Sticker Maker. 

For intricate dies like this, I suggest running your paper through your with adhesive BEFORE die cutting, I found out the hard way that the adhesive through littler holes in metallic paper isn't forgiving. OOPS!! Avoid sticky residue and smudges by adding adhesive first, then die-cutting.

Once your intricate piece is properly done, I peeled the protective film backer off halfway and snipped off the peeled off film. This way my I can bend and shape my die-cuts and adhere them to my project and still add dimension and not just have them lay flat.

I added both the leaves and sprigs this way. Took off only half the backer, attached it to my card, then shaped it.

Once the leaves and sprigs and leaves were attached, I started on my floral bouquet.

I used a Large Romantica Rose as my center, followed by two Chocolatey Fall Tone Peony Flowers, and tucked in Arabian Jasmine, Semi-Open Rose Buds, and sprinkled in a few white Achillea Cottage Flowers and used a sturdy liquid glue to attach them in place.

I used white pigment ink to lightly sponge the tips of my orange flowers.

Then decided that my little sprigs were slightly too light... so I brushed on more Fired Brick ink onto them. I covered the surrounding area with a tissue to protect it from getting inked.

Look at how much more they pop!

Finally, I just added a simple metal embellishment with the words thank you and my card was done.

And here is my finished card...

I really love how those orange and browns catch your eye!

Elegant Gift Tags That Say Thanks!

Hey, Crafty Friends... It's September 15th! 

That means it's time for another challenge at the I am Roses Blog!! And today I made a set of gorgeous gift tags. These would be a great accessory to a wonderful thank you gift. They are simple and elegant but with a pop of color that is striking!

I started by creating the tag bases. I knew I wanted them to be frilly and eye-catching. 

I cut 2- 2.5"x 6" strips of white cardstock and ran them through my Xyron Sticker Maker. Then die-cut them using an intricate border dies by Diamond Press called Lace Borders.

I die cut the actual tag itself from both Kraft and white cardstock using the largest die from Tim Holtz's Tag Collection die set. 

I trimmed about a quarter-inch off the kraft tag and layered it onto the white tag using my Xyron Mega Runner.

Next, I peeled my lacy borders from their protective film and attached them onto the tag.

I used my MISTI to help me align my sentiments from the Diamond Press Thanks a Bunch stamp set. Once it liked the position I dusted my tag with an anti-static pouch, then inked up my stamp with Versamark ink and stamped directly onto the card.

I sprinkled clear embossing powder over the entire stamped sentiment and heat set it,

 

I set the tag aside. 

Then used Eileen Hull's Leaves, Spring dies to die cut leaves from red cardstock. I used only the top corner stemmed leaf and placed 3 layers of scrap paper on the die and cut them all out at the same time.

I inked the tips of the leaves using Distress Oxide ink in Black soot.

I repeated all the previous steps, this time, I swapped out the red cardstock for green and switched out the lacy flower border to a delicate butterfly border.

I also switched out the sentiment both are great "thank you" sentiments (and both come included in the thanks a bunch set)

And here is where the pop of color comes in...

After attaching the leaves onto the card, I build a little floral arrangement on each. 

I curled the stems of the flowers using a wooden skewer to create little swirly vines. Then attached the flowers onto the tag using a rally strong liquid adhesive.

Then scattered a few rhinestones here and there and attaching them using tiny amounts of more liquid adhesive.

Lastly, I attached a twine bow to each tag topped with a single button.

And here are my finished tags...

I really love how bold these colors look against the kraft and white cardstock. Because I used neutral colors as my base the color I did add really pops!!

DCWV March Setch Challenge

Hello Crafty Friends!!

It's the beginning of a new month and that means there's a new Sketch Challenge happening right now over at DCWV!!

For my inspirational project I made this super quick and easy card.

 For the flower on this card I die cut 4 of the smallest flowers with Eileen Hull's Flower Layers Die. 

I water colored my flowers using a pink marker and a water brush, adding more color to the edges of the petals.

Then I curled and formed the petals so that two flowers were mostly closed. These will be the two top layers.

I then layered all four clowers and glued them together with clear liquid adhesive.

For my  card layer I used plain white cardstock for the card base that I cut to be a standard A2 (4.25"x5.5" folded) sized card.

For my mat & overlay both measure at 4"x 5.25". I used a glue pen to attach the overlay to my mat then used my Xyron Mega Runner to attach my mat to the card base,

I cut out two leaves using my Tim Holtz Garden Greens Die from more white cardstock and attached it to the card front.

I hand cut a pennant measuring 1"x3" from more blue paper from the Blue China Stack then stamped thanks in versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

And lastly, attached the pennant, leaves, and flower using Fabri Tac.

And here is my finished card!

This card came together really quickly and really love the look of the blue and whites!! These papers really remind me of these porcelain dishes and balls my mother-in-law collects. And just like those porcelain pieces, these papers are absolutely gorgeous!

Happy Friday Friends!! It's March already... omg, what?! Yup, it's a brand new month! you know what that means... There's a new Challenge over at the Pink and Main Challenge Blog!! We are up to challenge #19 and the theme for this month is... SPRING!!

DCWV Monthly Stack-a-holic Challenge

Hello again, Crafty Friends!! Have you all entered the DCWV Stack-a-holic Challenge yet?? Well, great news if you haven't, you still have lots of time to get crafting!!

Today, I'm sharing with you my take on this month's card sketch ...

with beautiful papers from the Ocean Breeze Stack.

First, I made a A2 sized (vertical flap) card base.

I cut a piece of cardstock to 4.25" x 11".

With a bone folder, scored at 5.5" and folded at 5.5".

Making it a 4.25"x 5.5" card with a vertical flap.

I die cut this pretty flower paper using a die from MFT's Blueprints 18 set. It was the perfect match for this month sketch!

Then, I matted the die-cut onto this bold blue and white paper... love the bold pattern in white!! I used my Xyron Mega Runner to attach and layer my die-cut to the paper. And then used my paper trimmer to create a 1/4" border all around the die-cut.

I found this beautiful sentiment also included in the stack. I fussy cut the oval and inked around the edges with a shimmery ink and finger dauber.

Then used the leftover paper from my die-cut and hand cut a few little flowers. I mounted them on foam adhesive and adhered them onto the flowers around the oval cutout. Then used my Wink of Srella pen to add a glitter over the mounted flowers.

Then I used my Mega Runner to assemble all my layers onto my card base and added more foam adhesive under my oval cut-out and mounted it onto my card.

Lastly, I hand cut a couple of fishtail flags from more leftover paper and tucked and adhered them under the diagonal layer.

And here is my fished card...
