Bear Christmas Shaker Card

Hey, Crafty Friends!! 

I'm back with Team Xyron today!!

Can you believe it's not even Thanksgiving?!!  Thanksgiving is tomorrow and it already feels like Christmas! So with that in mind, I'll show you how to make this adorable holiday shaker card that is bound to make you smile with Christmas cheer!

I started by using my MISTI to stamp my images from the Beary Christmas Stamp Set in Versafine Onyx Black onto mixed media paper.

Next, I colored my images Derwent Academy Water-Soluble Markers and Watercolor Pencils and blended the colors out with a water brush pen.

I used my Big Shot with a Magnetic Platform and the matching Beary Christmas Die Set to die cut my adorable bears.

Then, I added tiny polka dot details with a White Gelly Roll Pen.

To build the card base, I folded an 8 1/2"x 4 1/4" piece of 110 lb white cardstock in half to create a standard A2 size card. I set the card to the side and worked on the card front.

I layered a 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" piece of red cardstock and a piece of 4" x 5 1/4" green chevron paper together and attached them using my Xyron Mega Runner.

Once layered together, I used a Stitched Circle die to cut a window through both layers.

I wanted to break up the stark white background but didn't want to get ink around the edges of the card. So I taped off about a 1/4" perimeter. Then used the cut-out as a template to trace a circle where the window would lay.

With a penciled outline, I shaded Distress Oxide- Abandoned Coral using my Picket Fence Studio Life Changing Brushes.

To create my shaker window, I attached a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of acetate behind the cutout using my Mega Runner. Then attached a border of foam tape around the perimeter of the window.

I ran my previously colored trees through my Xyron "X" Sticker Maker and attached it to the center of shaded area.

I sprinkled in a generous amount of Christmas Carnival Sparkletz and topped it the window panel.

I used my Mega Runner to attach the bears around the window. 

Then, I stamped my sentiment onto black cardstock with white pigment ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder and attached it to my card front.

And here is my finished card...

Creating Two Seasons with One Stamp Set

Hey, Friends!! I'm back again with Team Xyron today!!

And brrrrr... It's cold outside!! It's not even Thanksgiving and temperatures have begun to dip. I'm hoping that Mother Nature makes up her mind. I mean, it is still technically fall, right?!  Supposedly we still have 37 more days of fall to go... say what?!! Yup, that's right, winter doesn't officially begin until December 21!!  I don't know about your neck of the woods, but in my area, the frigid air here screams WINTER!!

So what is one to do... Craft for Fall or craft for Winter??

Well, if you're ever stuck in that sort of dilemma, let me give you a tip, buy products that are dual or multi-purpose! Like this set from Waffle Flower called Hello Pumpkin.

This set can be used throughout your year-end holiday seasons. It's filled with jack-o-lanterns, pumpkins, and sweater wearing mice!! And did I mention the cute latte and coffee/ cocoa accessories? 

You can literally use this set to craft from Halloween to Christmas just with this one set!

But since Halloween has already passed, I'll show you how I created these winter and fall cards below.

I started by using my Misti Stamping Tool to stamp my images from Waffle Flower's Hello Pumpkin onto a piece of watercolor cardstock with ColorBox Wicked Black Dye Ink. I colored all the stamped images in using Derwent's Procolour Pencils. The watercolor paper is quite textured and it has a nice tooth for the pigments in the pencils to grab onto. 

The trick with these pencils is to have a light hand. Apply gentle pressure and work in layers. If you apply too much pressure you burnish the color down and rid the paper of its tooth so the paper can no longer grip anymore color. 

Here's a trick to change seasons... switch out your color palette! Yes, it's that simple. With the exception of stamps that are obviously specific to a certain holiday or event, simply changing the color palette can result in a different feel and theme.

For example, I colored some images in oranges, greens, and browns (fall colors), while others were blues and purple (cool winter tones) or greens and reds (traditional Christmas colors).

Once I was done coloring I cut my little munchkins out by hand. The matching set of dies is available for this set but I find hand cutting images relaxing so I don't mind the fussy cutting.

 Coloring images can help set the mood and determine theme but so can paper!! Paper is, in my opinion, the biggest & easiest way to change the feel of your project. 

Again, I opted for more neutral tones... greens, oranges, browns, and yellows...

These shades make up the palette of my Fall card. And all my patterned paper came from one paper stack... DCWV's Fall Basics Stack.

I cut the card base to 9 1/4"x 8" and folded it in half (9 1/4"x 4" -folded).

The yellow striped mat measures 9 1/4"x 3 1/4".

And the plaid paper measures at 9 1/4" x 3".

I used my Mega Runner to adhere the first mat to the base. Adhering the piece straight down the center of the card.

I used my Big Shot with the magnetic platform and a circle die to cut 3 windows down the center of the mat. Then again, used my Mega Runner to adhere to the yellow striped paper.

I attached the leaves at the top center of my card. Then attached a small twine bow over top.

Then, I topped off the bow with an acorn center.

I added foam adhesive to the back of my critters to give them a little dimension and placed them each into a window.

Then to finish this card, I simply stamped the sentiment "Hello Pumpkin" in black ink.

Look how adorable it is! So simpl and oh so cute!!

For my Winter card... 

Even more quick and easy... Remember, I had already colored some of my images in winter and Christmas colors...

Then, I created this easy A2 (4 1/4"x 5 1/2") sized card base matted it twice giving each mat a difference of 1/4"

Mat #1- 4" x 5 1/4"

Mat #2- 3 3/4" x 5"

Layered and attached them with my Mega Runner.

Stamped the "You & me" sentiment towards the center of the card. Then added my "dimensional" mice (one on each side of the sentiment).

I almost forgot to give them their little beverages... I love how this set comes with the little latte and cup of hot cocoa (it can also double as coffee for all you coffee lovers)!!

Then, finally added my bow and stamped the words "perfect blend" underneath the little mice.

And...

TAH-DUH!!

EEEEKKK!! Yup, I'm squealing like a little mouse! These are just too flipping cute! I'll be definitely getting tons of use from this set for sure!

CAS- Masking with Xyron & Derwent

Hello, my friends! 

After a couple days of ugly weather, lots of rain and severe thunderstorms, we finally have a bit of gorgeousness peeking through. The sun is shining and starting to dry up these huge mud puddles. Soon there will be flowers blooming everywhere! I am very much looking forward to taking tons of pictures in all the wildflowers that grow around here. 

But until then, I'll settle for creating my own blooms.

Today, I have a CAS (Clean and Simple) card I made for Team Xyron. This week Xyron has partnered with Derwent, makers of high-quality pencils, watercolors, and artist materials. 

And combined together I  created this gorgeous card...

Let me show you how I did it!

I started my card by actually creating a DIY mask. Yup, you can create your own masks and it's super easy to do too!

I cut a piece of super thin acetate. I believe this sheet is about .002" in thickness. I wanted my mask to be pretty big. Big enough to cover an entire card front. So this one measure 6"x 8.5". In the picture, I left the tissue paper backer in place just so you can see where the acetate is because it's see-thru and practically invisible. But once cut down to size, I removed it before proceeding.

Next, I took the acetate and ran it through my Xyron Creative Station using a Repositionable adhesive refill cartridge. This is important! If you don't use a "repositionable" adhesive you will pretty much ruin your acetate and it will bind to whatever you try to mak off.

Then, I trimmed off the excess backer to make it easier for this next step...

I used the third largest circle from Pink and Main's Stitched Circle Dies to die cut a mask. I removed the circle die cut and st it to the side (I can save this to use this at another time). I peeled the acetate (with the circle cut-out) off the protective sheet, then placed over a sheet from my Derwent Big Book Sketch Book.

I love that this book has a nice "tooth" to it and is perfect for use with pencils.

 I used the Dune (taupe looking color) ink pad from the Boardwalk Petal Point ink pad to stamp my flower image. Then I wiped the excess ink from the mask to avoid smearing it all over my image.

Then used the Sunset Gold (#61) pencil to trace an outline inside of the mask. Then removed the mask and stored it onto a piece of leftover Xyron Creative Station adhesive film backer.  I save big sheets of this stuff and set them aside for later. They really come in handy every now and then for moments like this.

I removed the mask. Sometimes I like to take my work with me and tracing around the mask gives me a perimeter to stay within when coloring. without having the mask hanging off my page.

I colored my image using Foliage (#51),  Cedar Green (#48), & Sap Green (#46) for the leaves.

Then used Buttercup Yellow (#03), Deep Chrome (#09), Sunset Gold (#61), & Nutmeg (#65) to color the flowers and buds.

Next, I placed my mask back on my page. Back into place on the traced circle. Then with a blending stylus and blender tip, I blended a halo of Dune ink around the inner perimeter of my mask.  Then removed the mask and placed it back on the backer film. As long as you keep the mask on the backer sheets you can use it over and over again.

I love how my image looks so far but wanted a little more pop...

So, I used blending stumps and solution over my image. I blended each section one color at a time. Blending with separate stumps dipped in the solution.

Adding solution doesn't just break down the pigments to blend, it also makes the colors more vibrant too!

Once I was happy with the blending, I die cut my image off my page using the second biggest circle die from the Stitched Circle Dies set. Making sure to center my image so I have a clean and even border around it.

I die cut a circle shaped card using the largest circle from the same stitched circle die set. I simply took a 5.5" (folded in half) square card and positioned it so that the edge of the card is slightly inside the perimeter of the die.

Then, I  ran my die cut image through my Creative Station Lite. I could've just put my 5" refill cart in my Original CS machine. But I was feeling lazy... besides, my CS Lite was already loaded and on hand. LOL

I peeled my image off the backer (of course saving it for later use) and applied my image to the front of my circle card.

Next, I stamped the "FOR YOU" sentiment with Top Boss Clear Embossing ink onto black cardstock. Then sprinkled white embossing powder over the top, dusted off the excess, then heat set it.

Once I embossed my sentiment, I die cut the sentiment out using the smallest rectangle from the Pink and Main Stitched Rounded Rectangle Dies set.

I added a few Silver Glass dots to the center of my largest flower and around the card for additional embellishment. Then used my Mega Runner to attach my sentiment.


And here is my finished card...

Halloween Planner Clips

Hello again, Crafty Friends!!!

I have another Pink and Main project for ya, and just in time for Halloween too!

These are so super simple to do...

I started by stamping  these adorable jack-o-lantern and bat cupcakes, from the Sweet Halloween set, onto white cardstock using Momento Tuxedo Black ink.

Then colored them in with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and color pencils.

I used... 

LG3 & CG4 for the greens.

HB2 & HB3 for the purples.

And GB4 & OR1 for oranges.

Then dusted the cheeks with hot pink chalk, added freckles and highlights with a white gel pen, and added eylashes using an XS PITT Artist Pen.

I used the matching Sweet Halloween Dies to cut them out perfectly.

Then, ran the cut-outs through my Xyron Creative Station Lite loaded with double laminate cartridge.

Next, I trimmed off the excess laminate from around the cut-outs.

Using a hi-temp hot glue gun, I attached paper clips to the backsides of the images. Then cut-out pieces of felt to conceal the clips.

Then attached tiny coordinating bakers twine bows onto each clip.

And here are my finished Halloween planner clips!!

These turned out so stinking cute!! And, I can't wait to stick them onto planner pages!!

Good Morning Gorgeous!!

Hello,Crafty Friends!! 

Sometimes, after a good night of sleep, I wake up feeling refreshed!! Whenever I feel this good I just want to spread that energy and sunshine with everyone!! I made this card just for that very reason!! I'm one of those people who love doing for others and especially when they least expect it! So why not make cards just because?? Right?!

I used Pink and Main's NEW Wild About You stamp set for the stylish boho fox.

I stamped my image with Momento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Neenah Solar White Cardstock. Then colored with Spectrum Noir Color Pencils and blended with blending stumps and odorless mineral spirits.

Then cut this cutie out using the matching Wild About You Dies.

I used the Stitched Rounded Rectangles Dies to cut out rectangles from DCWV's Boho Style Stack.

 Stamped my sentiment from the Believe Script stamp set, in more Tuxedo Black ink onto the smaller rectangle. Then attached my mats onto my card front using my Xyron Mega Runner.

Finally, I used clear adhesive to attach a hemp twine bow and mulberry flowers. I used enamel dots, flatback pearls, and seed beads as different flower centers.
