A Sweet Hello Card

Hello, Crafty Friends!! 

I'm back with summer in full force and the sun beating down, I figured I needed an ice cold treat to cool down. Well, I am a huge fan of some good ice cream and why just stop at eating it? I love how cute scoops and swirls are and they make me happy... kind of like donuts (but that's another story). So, I wanted to color and create with that adorably sweet ice cold treat and created this card...

First off, check out this ice cream truck!! Is this not off the charts ADORABLE or what?!

This image is from the 'So Cool' Stamp set. It brings back so many memories from my childhood of chasing one of these down the street. I, fortunately, was born and raised on an island so we typically saw truck circling our neighborhood year round.

And what is ice cream without someone to eat it? This little cutie in her pink sparkly bikini is from the 'The Scoop' stamp set. I just adore her little loops on her pigtails!

I made a scene cut using the 2 largest ovals from the 'Stitched Oval' dies and one of the stitched waves from the 'Scallop Waves' dies... they make for really awesome rolling hills!

My fantastic patterned paper was cut from the 'Beach Bum' & 'Spring Fling' 6x6 Paper Pads. I love how I can take the paper from different pads and they still coordinate very well.

Then, finally, I stamped the "a sweet hello" sentiment from the 'Hummingbirds' stamp set across the bottom. Because these are clear stamps and are extremely flexible I'm able to manipulate the stamp fairly easily to the shape I need it. So, I curved my words on my acrylic block to mimic the round bottom of the oval... I totally LOVE that I can do this! It's something I wouldn't be able to do if it were a rubber stamp.

Sweet Birthday Wishes

Hey Crafty Friends!

Hope everyone is keeping cool this summer! I sure am trying to that's for sure! And one of the ways I cool down is eating a frozen treats... ice cream, popsicles, shaved ice, smoothies... you name it! If it's cold and sweet more than likely I'm indulging in it! Which is great news for my kiddies since they do too!!

And Speaking of summer treats... head over to the KBD Challenges Facebook group to join in on the current challenge... Summer Treats!! It's been a while since I've joined in not because I didn't want to but because I've been soooo busy. This time I've decided to bypass my list of excuses and made the time to indulge in a little paper treats for myself... the pleasure of ice cream with out the guilt. LOL

Most of my family (and a few close friends) know that I am a puzzle nut!! I love them all... wooden puzzles, metal puzzles, 3D puzzles... I am fascinated by all of them... I used to have quite the collection too (until I had kids)... but that's another story. And I see paper piecing the same way I  see puzzle solving. In order to see the entire picture you have to first put it together. 

Enter into the world of SVG's and cutting files! Creating with paper pieces is one of my favorite crafting pastimes! I can just get lost making little creations come to life.

Today I decided to use this uber cute Ice Cream Cone from KBD's Ice Cream Cuties file.

All of these are SUUUUPER CUTE but I ultimately decided on the traditional cone. I will be indulging in the rest later, definitely.

I started out by using my electric die cutting machine. In order to use SVG and other cutting file formats you need to use first download and unzip your file onto your computer. Then you need software that is compatible with your cutting machine. Today I will be using my Sizzix eclips and ecal software.

I usually use the jpeg image or store image as a reference to what colors to cut out or use in my paper piecings. After cutting out all my pieces I add shading. I just LOVE shading my paper pieces with my eBrush machine. I not only airbrush the individual pieces faster than I could with ink pads or chalk, but I get a deeper and wider degree of shading than I could those methods. And I don't get the awkward inkpad outlines or of time consuming drying time either.

For airbrushing ice cream cone I used a combination of Spectrum Noir Markers and Sharpies. Yes, just regular Sharpies... the same kind you write your children's names on their school supplies with. Once done, I start piecing my pieces together like a puzzle. For the smaller pieces I will use a glue pen to adhere them together.

But when I want to really get those pieces together and ensure that they don't flake off I almost always reach for my Xyron Machines. And I LOVE Xyron's new Creative Station! I can easily transition from BIGGER to SMALLER jobs at the drop of a hat. And the best part is I can do it all with one machine. Here I run all my ice cream pieces through the Creative Station with the smaller 5" Permanent Adhesive Refills.

The pieces come together easily... just peel and stick!

And for bigger jobs... switch out for the 9" refill!! 

I run my bigger panels and some fun foam through together... Not wasting any of that adhesive real estate. Had to run my foam through on both sides so it'll be come to huge strips of foam adhesive.

And if I need small amount again no problem ... I switch it back. Because let's face it, not everyone crafts with a plan. Sometimes (Ok, more like, most times) I craft on a whim with no clear set plan. 

I also used my Xyron on this panel as well! I cut the ornate shape using the largest of my Darice Ornate Squares dies and then adhered it to plain white cardstock. Since it was the largest of the dies I had to make my own next layer by fussing cutting a white border around it.

I layered my other pre Xyron'ed panels onto this one. Then used my "Sweet Birthday Wishes" from Pink and Main's Birthday Wishes set to stamp my sentiment.

Peeled and stujck my homemade foam adhesive to the back of my card panel and attached it to my card front.

I hand drew stitch lines with a Faber-Castell PITT Artist pen in M.

I used coordinating patterned paper to cut the bow from the Teresa Collins' bow die from the Girls Best Friend Collection. Glued it all together with a bit of Diamond Glaze, topped it with a button , and attached it to my card.

Brutus Monroe, Serena Bee, & Me!

Hello crafty friends!! Today I have something special for you all...

My very first project for Brutus Monroe Stamps!! And even better I get to use the AWESOME new Serena Bee Deadly Desserts stamp set! EEEEEKKK!! 

Ok, if there's one thing you must know about me it is I absolutely LOVE Halloween!! I would celebrate it everyday if I could!! It is my most favorite holiday of the year... I love it even more than Christmas!! And it doesn't help that my birthday is the day before... which just extends my celebrating!! YAY!!

So, this was an absolute WIN-WIN all the way around!!

First, I stamped my image with Momento's Tuxedo Black ink. I'll be using alcohol ink pens to color my image I need an ink that won't bleed when it comes into contact with it and since it's India Ink base it dries permanent. I stamped my image onto illustrator paper because this paper was made for comic and manga artists and made to withstand saturated coloring and control bleeding from alcohol ink markers.

I used My Spectrum Noir Markers in HB1, HB2, HB3  for the purple ones and  to color my cupcake tops. And colored the bottoms in BG1, B2, and BG4 for the bottoms. I also cut a a1/2" x 2" rectangle and stamped my " you are deadly sweet" sentiment on it.

I "fussy cut" each piece and adhered the pieces together with my glue pen. Then attached a foam dot on the back of each to add dimension.

For the background I used a sheet of paper from DCWV's La Bella Rouge Stack and airbrushed it with my eBrush machine in Spectrum Noirs PP2, PP4, HB1, and HB2. Working in chuncks at a time first applying the lights then the dark colors around the edges.

I left the center white for a nice highlighted area.

 I also airbrushed the edges of the little rectangle in BG4.

Here, I used my Cut'n'Boss machine and the largest of my Spellbinders Floral Oval to cut a shape out of black cardstock.

Then I airbrushed the edges of my die cut with a silver metallic Sharpie. I do this because I'm using a lot of dark colors in my card and I didn't want my black cardstock to blend in and get lost from all the black in the background. So adding the silver around the edges gives the oval some definition.

I also ran astrip of Black Magic Coredinations cardstock through my Anna Griffin border die along both edges to emboss my strip. Then I sanded the raised parts off to expose the color underneath.

Finally, I ran my my panels through my Creative Station and assembled my card. As a final touch I added a couple rhinestone flowers.

Ice Cream Teddy card

Oh my I forgot to hit publish  on this post from a couple days ago!!

Hey friends... It seems that I've been making quite a bit of cards lately. I've shied away from huge layouts and shifted gears and focus mainly on cards now. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. I mean, can you blame me when projects look as cute as this:

This is exactly my point!! I have been on a card making and paper piecing spree and I just can't help it! With each card I make, they just get cuter and cuter!  

The adorable Teddy above is from a KaDoodle Bug Designs file called A Cherry On Top! 

Doily is from Craftwell by Teresa Collins... it was part of an autoship with my Cut'n'Boss from HSN.

Framed label is an Originals die from Sizzix called Bookplates Designer (retired).

"Sweet" stamp is by Pink and Main from the Little One set.

My Heart Melts...

Hello Crafty Friends... I'm so HAPPY to share some exciting news... I am the newest Design Team Member over at KaDoodlebug Designs!!! Yay!!

And for my first Design Team project I chose to make a card featuring this utterly sweet ice cream sundae from the "Yummy Treats" file set!!  I thought would be perfect to make, yet again, another Vlaentines Day card. 

I ebrushed all the paper pieces before assembling them. Then I added highlights with a white gel pen. The results were simply amazing. There is just so much depth!  I paired it with a group of pennants (which were also ebrushed) and topped it with a bow.

I can't wait to play with more cutting files from KaDoodlebug! This set is retiring very soon (Feb 15th) so if I were you I would snatch it up quick because once it gone, it's gone!!
