Good Morning Gorgeous!!

Hello,Crafty Friends!! 

Sometimes, after a good night of sleep, I wake up feeling refreshed!! Whenever I feel this good I just want to spread that energy and sunshine with everyone!! I made this card just for that very reason!! I'm one of those people who love doing for others and especially when they least expect it! So why not make cards just because?? Right?!

I used Pink and Main's NEW Wild About You stamp set for the stylish boho fox.

I stamped my image with Momento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Neenah Solar White Cardstock. Then colored with Spectrum Noir Color Pencils and blended with blending stumps and odorless mineral spirits.

Then cut this cutie out using the matching Wild About You Dies.

I used the Stitched Rounded Rectangles Dies to cut out rectangles from DCWV's Boho Style Stack.

 Stamped my sentiment from the Believe Script stamp set, in more Tuxedo Black ink onto the smaller rectangle. Then attached my mats onto my card front using my Xyron Mega Runner.

Finally, I used clear adhesive to attach a hemp twine bow and mulberry flowers. I used enamel dots, flatback pearls, and seed beads as different flower centers.

Sanding You Warm Wishes

Hi Crafty Peeps!! It's summertime! It is hot and humid! And I really wish I lived close to the beach right about now!!

But, as luck has it, I'm several hundreds of miles away from the nearest beach. That just stinks!! Oh well... if I can't go to the beach I might as well bring the beach to me, right! Right!! Because I'm in a "beachy" mood today!

First, I stamped my image on white cardstock using Momento tuxedo Blank Ink. I usually stamp several images at once and then color them all at the same time. I also like to stamp "extras", just incase I make a boo-boo along the way. You never know when an accident may occur... like those instances where little hands wander onto your work area and snatch your work. It's always good to just be prepared!

I like to coloring my images with color pencils and blending out with low odor mineral spirits and blending stumps. Especially on smaller images it's really hard to color and shade, so I find that a well sharpened pencil tips fit perfectly into those hard to color areas. Once done coloring my images I hand cut the images out. If I have the matching dies for the images I will use those.

For my card base I used this scalloped card set by Stephanie Barnard. Because I used a faux watercolor type technique of my images I chose to use pastel colors and muted tones for the card base and mat. I found that if I  use bright and bold colors while using this coloring technique, it seems to was out the images and the colors in the image will not show up true to the actual colors. 

So, for the card base I used DCWV 's Pastel Stack and for the scalloped mat I used patterned paper from DCWV's Watercolor Sstack.

The scalloped card die set didn't come with a plane mat die. Instead it has word cut-outs. I really wanted to have a matted front... so I used Pink and Main's Stitched Rounded Rectangles Dies. The third largest die makes a great mat for for my cardbase. The width was perfect, unfortunately, the height wasn't.

To make my rectangle seem taller, I cut out 2 rectangles. One for the sand and one for the sky.  Then overlap at the ends.

I ebrushed the edges of my leafy paper with my Spectrum Noir DG3 alcohol marker, the light blue paper with SN TB1, and The sand colored paper with SN TN3. 

Then, I ran the scalloped mat  and through my Xyron Creative Station Lite.

Next, I stamped my sentiment from the Sunkissed Greeting set, using Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I also stamped the stitched oval from the Stitched Greetings set around my sentiment. Then cut out using the matching Stitched Greetings Dies Oval Die.

Lastly, I added adhesive foam for dimension under some of my elements and adhered all the pieces of my card together to create this super cute beach scene.

And here is my finished card...

You can see how just how much dimension the foam adhesive adds to the card.

I'm back again for another week with Craftwell & Latina Crafter!! Today marks the beginning of week #2 of awesome Latina Crafter projects! And, today I will show you how made this "Porthole" window card.

One of the best inventions ever... clear stamps!! One of the benefits of using clear stamps is one's ability to see exact placement of your images/ and words! I can position or combine stamps in a variety of positions for a variety of looks, expanding and maximizing my stamping possibilities.

First, I positioned my clear stamps onto an acrylic block and stamped the image onto a practice sheet of paper to make sure that alignment is how and where I want it. This way I  minimize waste and saves my "good stuff" for my actual projects. For this card I used Latina Crafter's Anchor set.

Once placement was exactly how  wanted, I stamped my image onto my "pretty" cardstock.

I added shadows to the banner by shading the ends with a Spectrum Noir Marker in TB1. 

For my card front I cut a 4"x5.25" piece of cardstock. I found this awesome anchor paper that matched the theme of the stamps with cute little anchors from the DCWV Seaside Yacht Stack. I embossed it using a Teresa Collins Diamond Motif Embossing Folder through my Cut'n'boss machine using the following sandwich:

I wanted to cut a window but I wanted my stamped image to be centered. To get image centered, I first centered my stamped image using a wafer thin metal die blade side up. I held the die and paper in place with my thumbs and forefingers, then flipped them over. Still holding them together I centered them over my card front mat. Now, when I remove my stamped paper, my die is now positioned blade side down. At this point you can use washi tape or painter's tape to keep in place. and die cut your window.

Then used my Xyron Mega Runner to attach my window to my card A2 sized card base. To complete my "Porthole" window, I centered the next smallest circle die inside the first window and ran it through my die cut machine again.

Then I attached my stamped image on the inside if my card. Centering it on the back lap should also result in it being centered in the window.

Then, I cut a 4"x5.25" piece of cardstock and attached it to the inside/ backside of the window. Then repeated the same step for the front window to the inside. This covers up an adhesive that shows through the vellum and gives the inside of the card a finished look.

To embellish the card I also stamped an anchor and cut it out by hand.

And, die cut the "RememberThis" phrase from the Teresa Collins Memory Collection set. Then ebrushed it using the same marker I used to color the stamped banner. I used a glue pen to adhere it to black cardstock and attached it to my card stock with more adhesive tape.

To finish my card, I used baker's twine topped with a button. and used liquid glue to attach the twine and anchor.

I cut my base using Stephanie Barnard's Royal Stand-Ups Card die out of green striped cardstock from DCWV's DIY Projects Stack- Flowers. Then die-cut the coordinating panels from polka-dot cardstock from the DIY Project Stack Stencils. The ornate shape in the center was also included with the card die and was cut out from bright blue cardstock from DCWV's Jewel Toned Textured Stack. I added stitch lines and stars to the background using a  white gel pen.

I used Pink and Main's Magical Unicorn set for the unicorn.

The unicorn was stamped on white cardstock using Momento Tuxedo Black ink. Then colored with Spectrum Noir alcohol marker in LG5 (body) and marker JG2 (mane). Then for extra detail and depth I shaded with colored pencils 057 (body) and 053 (mane). I also colored the inner ear with 034 color pencil. For the cheeks I shaded with hot pink dry chalk and added highlights with a white gel pen. 

For the border strip at the bottom of the card, I cut a strip of bright blue jewel toned cardstock measuring 1.25" x 5.5" and layered a strip of polka-dot cardstock measuring 1"x 5.5". I used my Mega Runner to attach the two strip together as well as attach the ribbon down the center.

I topped with a basic bow and attached both the bow and the button center with 3D lacquer. Then hand drew stitch lines with a white gel pen.

I cut the word "Sweet" twice. Once ,from a light green cardstock, and again from the same striped green cardstock I used to cut the card base. Then I used a glue pen to layer the two die-cut words, offsetting them just a bit , creating a shadow. Again, adding highlight with a white gel pen.

         

I die-cut several clouds from the Sweet Dreams Baby Dies for my unicorn to stand on and shaded them by outlining them first with a blue (Spectrum Noir color pencil 068) and then blending the color out using odorless mineral spirits and a blending stump. I die cut an additional cloud to stamp the word "dreams", and positioned under the word "Sweet" to read out "Sweet dreams".

And, here is my finished easel card...

This set has to be hands down my all time favorite to date!! I just can't get enough of these UNICORNS!!!

Spring Gardening W/ My Kids , the Diamond Press, & Xyron

Happy Hump Day, Friends!! I have an awesome post for you today!! I had the wonderful privilege to get to play with one of the newest  and coolest gadgets in the crafting world... the brand new Diamond Press by Crafter's Companion!!

Well, let me start by telling you how flipping cute this little machine is! And a cute machine needs cute little hands to play with it!! You don't really need to have cute little hands but it just so happens that I have a few ready and willing pairs of hands to help me in today's post. OK, honestly, I barely did any of the work. My children are the ones who will be running the show today!

I will show you how my brood of munchkins made these... Biodegradable Planters!

We started by pouring soil into our biodegradable planter cups. Everyone got in on the dirt... literally. The kids each, removed, hardened chunks of dirt & rocks, and oversized twigs. Then we read the directions on each seed packet and planted all the seeds according to each.

We saved all the leftover packets for this next step.

Making Planter Markers...

Each of my kiddos

Trimmed their packets down to 1-3/4"x 2-3/4". Then arranged it onto the blank/ cutting folder with the die cutting edge to paper. and cranked it through the Diamond Press machine.

They each took turns cranking out their plant markers/ signs... even my 3 year old toddler. The cutting folder instead of a plate system made die cutting a breeze!! No more having to think of what plate combo to use. Just close the folder with you die and material and you are good to go!!

 Always remember to craft responsibly. Young children should only craft under close adult supervision. Even though these tools are extremely easy to use, parents should exercise caution at all times. I always monitor my children very closely... because frankly, these are mommy's toys! I'm just sharing them! LOL

I share lots of crafting toys. Always supervised, and alway after thorough instructions.

I think it's easy to say, I have some really bright children ... here is my oldest, switching cartridges out of my Xyron Creative Station Lite and then proceeded to use it. I think someone has been watching mommy way too closely!

Not only did she change out the cartridge herself, she ran the little flag pieces through, knew to trim the pieces off with trimmer attached on the backside, and burnish around the die cut pieces with her fingers. She handled it like a pro! Yup, someone has been watching mommy way too closely!!

Here, I finally got to help out... after the die cut pieces were laminated I attached them onto plastic "forks" and then sandwiched it between a piece of acetate and trimmed off the excess. No additional adhesive was required. The regular laminate cartridge lays down a layer of  laminate on one side and permanent acid free adhesive on the other. Making it also perfect to apply onto photos. 

Here are my little goofballs sticking their plant markers into their pots.

Uh-oh... here's where we found out we forgot to decorate our pots first. OOPS!!! It's a good thing we have extra pots! We can just decorated the empties and transferred our dirt and seeds after we decorated the pots.

 To decorate our pots, we just reached into our Diamond Press Bundle kit again. Not only did this bundle come with the machine, dies, and folders... it also came with matching stamps and an ink pad as well.

 And since the ink included is dye based, we don't have to work about the ink smearing and washing away if they get watered or rained on. Our stamped images will be on there for good!

Once stamped mommy just attached hemp twine bows onto each pot. And presto, our pots are done!! 

I'm was very impressed with the quality of these stamps... they stamped wonderfully!

Even though our pots are rounded and heavily textured, you can still clearly see the details from the stamp... like the stripes on the butterflies (above) and the polkadots on the flowers (below).

Just imagine the amount of detail it will leave on a flat surface.

 Now all we have to do is soak the pots, water the seeds, and wait for our little sprouts to grow. And once they have sprouted a bit we just plant them directly into the ground. No need for removing the from their pots. Easy peasy!
