Hello, Crafty Friends!!

I have another Valentine's card for you today. This one is not at all "Spring-y". With all the cold weather and snow a lot of people are facing, I thought I could remind them that a little snuggle and a whole lot of love can make the coldest of days seem warm.

Birch Trees & Owls Die (Die-Namites)

White, Red, & Brown Cardstock (Bazzill Basics)

Craft Cardstock (DCWV)

This super cute card is really quick and easy to make and uses minimal supplies... and the best thing only uses one die. How awesome is that?!!

This amazing die come with the trees as well as the owls... AWESOME!! And look how darling those little owls are too!!

And what's a quick and easy card without a quick and easy background??

I simply used these sponge "sweepers" from Tsukineko to create my background on plain white cardstock. First I sponged on the Sea Breeze then the Aegean Blue... concentrating the color towards the top and fading towards the bottom.

Then, I die cut 2 sets of tree out of brown cardstock and 2 little owls from white cardstock. I cut apart the trees and move them around my card front till I was satisfied. Then I attached my owls onto a tree branch with foam adhesive.

I created snowy hills by simply drawing wavy mounds onto white cardstock and then fussy cut them out with scissors and then shaded the edges with more Sea Breeze ink.

I used my Xyron Mega Runner to attach my hills to my card front. And then again attaching my card front to red card mat and then onto a craft cardstock base.

Then, I stamped my little sentiment from the Pink and Main Luv U set in VersaFine Onyx Black ink. And the little hearts were stamped the cut out around the owls and sentiment.

For a finishing touch, I used a white gel pen to draw/ color snow onto my trees.

Die-Namites January Inspiration & Technique Blog Hop

Hey there, Crafty Friends... IT's that time again!! It's time for the Die-Namites' Monthly Techniques and Inspiration Blog Hop!! WOOHOO!!

Today, I decided to do something a little different with my dies. Instead of using them in a traditional manner (cutting paper and creating die-cuts), I am using them to create a stamp. Then using that stamp to create a card.

And creating stamps with your dies is so super easy!

Supplies Needed

Die-Namites Winter Fir Die 

Fun Foam or Craft Foam Sheet

2way Glue

Acrylic Block

Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads (Ranger)

Multimedia Paper

eBrush (Craftwell)

Spectrum Noir Markers- GB1, GB3

This is so easy, you're gonna wonder why you didn't make your own stamps sooner...

First, use you die to die-cut your foam sheet. You made need to pass it through your die-cut machine a few times, depending on the thickness an density of your foam.

Then apply a layer of 2way glue onto your foam die-cut and set aside to dry. It is now a repositionable / removable stamp.

Once dry, adhere to  acrylic stamp block and ink up with your favorite ink. Lightly mist with water and stamp image onto paper.

I used a very thick mixed media paper. This paper is specially formulated to uphold liquid applications with little to NO WARPING.

If you read my blog regularly, you'll know that I love to airbrush almost everything. And in this case I airbrushed a sun-setting horizon behind my trees. First, I airbrushed the golds. I used Spectrum Noirs GB1 and GB3. And for my blue skies, I used a periwinkle colored sharpie.

You don't have to use an airbrush... you can get very similar results by using ink pads and a sponge blending tool. Use what makes you comfortable.

Then I traced around the perimeter of my stamped image with a PITT Artist Pen in XS. This helped define the stamped images. 

And lastly, I splattered/ splashed Alcohol blending solution onto my card front and then stamped my sentiment using VersaFine Onyx Black ink.

And here is my finished card...

Altered Christmas Frame

Hey, Crafty Friends!! The most wondeful time the year is fast approaching! That means  it's tie to swith our crafting into over drive so we can make all those holiday crafts before the actual holiday get's here!! And today I have a altered picture frame to share with you all today.

I started off with an inexpensive picture frame I picked up at my local dollar store. It was just a little too blah for me but i knew I ccould dress it up.

I took the mat out of my frame and measured my sides. My mat mesure at 8'x 10" and is 1-1/2" thixk on all sides.

I cut  (2) 10"x1-1/2" peices and  (2) 8"x 1-1/2" pieces out of my patterned paper... which in this case had this pretty cool crackle looking finish to it. 

I cut the end of my strips at a 45 degree angle using my frame and rule as a guide and drawing a line from corner to corner and then I repeated it for all four sides

Then I ebrushed my edges to give it an even more distressed look.

Once that was done, I ran all my trips through my Xyron Creative Station.

Then attached it to my photo mat.

Now it looks like aged painted wood... pretty good for being all paper, huh??!!

Using the insert that comes with the frame... you know which one I'm talking about... the picture of thhe family that isn't yours... yeah, thaat one... I used it as aguid to where to center my picture. It's pre-cut to fit the frame and the pic is already centered to fit exactly into the mat. Takes all the guess work out so I don't have to measure a thing. Then I simply used my Xyron Mega Runner and aadhered my photo. And presto, PERFECT FIT!!

I like the new crackled paint over wood effect that my frame was now sporting but I wanted to kick it up a notch. So, I used my cut embooss machine and cut out some trees using Teresa Collins dies out of craft cardstock.

Then embossed it.

Then I used my ebrush to color over the embossing and sanded it with a saanding block. This exposed the craft paper underneath the raised areas. Then I trimmed then sides of my Christmas trees to fit onto theside f my frame.

Here are more Teresa Collins die cut pieces I made using gold foil cardstock and more craft stock. I ebrushed all the crasft cardstock and left the gold foil pieces alone.

When I first put together my frame, I had only planned to have only the twine bow at top. But it seemed kind off and the yellow tones were making my girls look like theey visited the taanning salon one too many times... their skin appeared orange when it took photos of my frame...

I know I didn't birth oompa loompas so I needed a solution to their orange skin problem

Well, problem solved...

And even though they're the exact same color in both the above and below pics... the Green sprigs balances out and tones down the orang looking skin. My children are naturally tanned but they're not "THAT" tanned!! LOL

Autumn Blessing Die-Namites Challenge Inspiration

 I started off by cutting a 4.5"x11" piece of cardstock and scoring it at the 5.5" and folding it in half creating an A2 sized card base.  I also cut a 4"x5.25" piece of cardstock and a 3.75"x5" piece of patterned paper to use as mats and ran them through my Xyron Creative Station.

I pieced together my card and mats. Then taped off the edges using painters tape. I airbrushed a circle of orange and yellow to the center of my card using my ebrush machine with orange and yellow Sharpies. 

I used my Die-Namites Pear Tree and cut 4 trees from cardstock and glued them together using a glue pen.

Then I ebrushed my tree using brown, green, orange, and red Sharpies. I added details using a PITT Arist Pen and Diamond Glaze on the pears and bird. I used Diamond Glaze to adhere my tree onto my card. 

Then stamped my sentiment under the tree using a Versafine Onyx Black ink pad. I used Pink and Main's "Thankful" stamp set for the "Autumn Blessings sentiment.

Here is my finished card:

I stayed with the warm autumn colors that reminded me a lot of a sunset... I love golden sunsets!! And, I love how this card turned out. It was a simple, yet elegant. A card that I could easily replicate multiples of. 

 This is such a gorgeous die and I didn't want to spoil it by adding too much fluff and frill, so I kept it simple.  I just added warm bold colors and a bit of hemp twine bow to give it an organic feel.
