Xyron Design Team Box Reveal

Hello Crafty Friends!! Time has just slipped away from me the pass couple of weeks. I've been  swamped with my girls' dance recital, picture taking, and now May Fest event on top of all my many design team obligations... 

But I am happy to say I did get to open my HUGE box of GOODIES that Xyron has generously sent me! If you follow me on Facebook you may have seen a picture of a ginormous box on my livingroom couch... Many of you asked what was in it... And, at long last, HERE IT IS:

7 Point Star Bow Video Tutorial

Hello Crafty Friends... I have a video tutorial for you all today! I'll be teaching you how to make a seven pointed star bow. I will include the link to download your very own template I used in the video tutorial below. This file is in SVG format especially made for those of you who have an electric/ digital cutter.

I also be doing another giveaway... I will be giving away 3 template sets to 3 lucky individuals. To enter just leave a comment in the comments section of my youtube video. 3 winners will be chosen at random. I'll will choose winners Sunday evening and announce them Monday on my blog.

For this project you will need the following...

 Supplies:

7 pt star template

your choice of chipboard, stencil film, or craft plastic (to make stencils)

ribbon

needle & thread

scissors

Ribbon Measurements:

small template: 42" long and up to 3/8" wide

medium template: 72" long and up to 5/8" wide

large template: 94" long and up to 1" wide

You can download the SVG file for the 7 pt star bow template and cut it out from chipboard , stencil film, or craft plastic.

My test templates I made out of chipboard and they worked great, but I wanted something a little more stable that wouldn't get worn out as quickly. 

So, I cut them from stencil film. Perfect... cut perfectly and very flexible!

As a beginner it's best if you start with the biggest template and as you get the hang of the technique work your way down to the smaller ones.

P.S.- The video does talks about 3 loops around each point to get the look in the picture below. But if you wanted a more fuller or more closed center try 4 or 5 loops around each point. I like putting buttons in my center and that is why I stopped at 3.

eBrush - Core'dinations Hack Edition

Hello again Crafty Friends!! Today I would like to share with you all my very first video tutorial. Well, Kind of anyway. My Good friend Debi Tullier had me as a special guest to show you all a kind of eBrush Core'dintions hack!

Please be kind! this was my first video... EVER... and I was so nervous!

In this video Debi and I discuss how to get different color combinations not currently found in Core'dinations cardstock. I used the whitewash family of papers to do this technique. I did this so that When the color goes down over the cardstock it does blend or fight with the base color to be seen. And, also to do the color blending technique you need that white base to see the blends of the colors atop the base color. This video is a bit lengthy!

You can also make your own faux core'dination paper doing this same technique using a nice & thick, good quality, cardstock.

Here I have the samples from the video with out the glare from the web cam and under my daylight lamps. 

As you can see the colors are much more vibrant.

       

 

I didn't sand enough of the top layer off of the pear tag. But, if you look at the lower right hand pear you can really see the yellow on the green. I think the yellow was too close to the lightest green to really make a huge difference.
