Feeling Gratitude Card

Hello, Crafty Friends!!

I'm so sad that October is done and gone but I'm looking forward to the rest of the holiday season. Thanksgiving, here we come!! And I have so many things to be thankful for! This year has been filled with lots of trials but they have helped me grow and learn. Learn to be a better friend, better mom, a better role model, and a way better me... And for that, I am extremely grateful!

So this card I created for the Eileen Hull team was very fitting...

For this card, I used two of my all-time favorite dies from Eileen Hull Designs... 

The Leaves, Spring and the Embroidery Hoop. Sadly, the Embroidery Hoop has since been retired. But the Leaves, Spring die is still available and remains one that I constantly reach for.

I cut a 5" x 6" piece of white mat board and ran it through my Xyron Creative Station Lite machine. Once through, I flipped it over and ran it again a second time to get adhesive on both sides of the mat board.

I removed the protective film from one side and attached patterned paper to the mat board. Then I trimmed off any overhang with my scissors. Then, I placed my mat board (paper side down) onto my Embroidery Hoop Die.

I ran the die through my Sizzix Big Shot Machine.

And presto... It gave me three (count them... THREE) die-cuts!! You can use all three in your projects but today I'm only going to use the largest of the cuts as a frame. The other two cuts I'll set aside for future projects.

To build the body of my card, I started with a 5"x7" card base made from kraft cardstock. I matted the card with a 4.75" x 6.75" piece of orange cardstock. Then layered that with 4.5" x 6" piece of leaf patterned paper and a 4.5" x 1" strip of knit sweater patterned paper. 

I attached all the pieces together using my Xyron Mega Runner.

Then, attached my mat board embroidery hoop.

To decorate my card, I chose an assortment of papers that were similar in color to the leaves that were in my patterned paper.

I folded the papers in half before die cutting and covered each shape completely and ran it through my Big Shot. This resulted in cutting out the die-cut shape an it's mirror image (see middle picture below).

Then, I used Flagstone, Melon, and Nutmeg Blends Inks to shade my leaf die-cuts. 

Then I put the leaves on the side to concentrate on the sentiment of the card.

I've always loved this stamp from Waffle Flower called Feelin Gratitude. It encompasses my exact thoughts and fills up the Embroidery Hoop perfectly!

I used my Misti stamping tool to stamp my sentiment onto my card with Versafine Onyx Black ink and again onto gray patterned paper. 

Then cut out the banner pieces from the gray paper, added foam adhesive, and attached it over the banner images on the card front.

I used a strong quick-drying glue to attach my leaves to the embroidery hoop. I grouped the leaves into threes and followed the curvature of the hoop.

I added a twine bow topped with a button between the groupings of leaves. 

Next, attached my premade cherry blossoms... I snipped off the stems of the cherry blossoms and spiraled the achillea stems with a skewer. Then attached the cherry blossoms and achillea flowers onto the leaves and surrounded the bow. 

And here is a look at my finished card...

I totally love how this turned out!! The fall colors on this are so calming and not harsh. And couldn't use a little more calm in their lives, right?!!

I Am Roses October Challenge- Thank You Card

It's October 15th and time for another I Am Roses Challenge!! 

I may be a bit biased but October is my favorite month of the year- let me tell you why... 

1. Out with hot weather, in with the sweater weather.
2. Fall. Pumpkins. Scarecrows, & Hay Rides.
3. It's my birthday month!
4. Let's not forget Halloween!! CANDY!! "Nuff said!!

And with all those wonderful things in mind, I decided to create this gorgeous fall-inspired Thank You card for my challenge project.

I started by creating a #10 (9 1/4"x 3 7/8") card base from kraft cardstock. Then layered it with a 9 1/8" x 3 3/4" piece of white cardstock, followed by a 9" x 3 5/8" piece of corrugated cardstock and used my Xyron Mega Runner to attach the layers together.

I cut a piece of patterned paper from DCWV's Autumn Leaves Stack an attache it to the card front. I made sure to make it as wide as the corrugate and torn on both ends. Sadly, this stack has been discontinued- but a digital download version is available through AC Digitals.

I ran a small piece of white cardstock through my 3" Disposable Sticker Maker then die-cut four sprigs using my Big Shot machine and Tim Holtz's Funky Floral #2  dies. 

Then I inked on Distress Oxide Ink in Fired Brick with one of the small Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence Studios.

I also die-cut some Tim Holtz Skeleton Leaves from Rose Gold Luxury Cardstock. I forgot to back my paper with adhesive first, so I quickly ran my die cuts through my 3" Disposable Sticker Maker. 

For intricate dies like this, I suggest running your paper through your with adhesive BEFORE die cutting, I found out the hard way that the adhesive through littler holes in metallic paper isn't forgiving. OOPS!! Avoid sticky residue and smudges by adding adhesive first, then die-cutting.

Once your intricate piece is properly done, I peeled the protective film backer off halfway and snipped off the peeled off film. This way my I can bend and shape my die-cuts and adhere them to my project and still add dimension and not just have them lay flat.

I added both the leaves and sprigs this way. Took off only half the backer, attached it to my card, then shaped it.

Once the leaves and sprigs and leaves were attached, I started on my floral bouquet.

I used a Large Romantica Rose as my center, followed by two Chocolatey Fall Tone Peony Flowers, and tucked in Arabian Jasmine, Semi-Open Rose Buds, and sprinkled in a few white Achillea Cottage Flowers and used a sturdy liquid glue to attach them in place.

I used white pigment ink to lightly sponge the tips of my orange flowers.

Then decided that my little sprigs were slightly too light... so I brushed on more Fired Brick ink onto them. I covered the surrounding area with a tissue to protect it from getting inked.

Look at how much more they pop!

Finally, I just added a simple metal embellishment with the words thank you and my card was done.

And here is my finished card...

I really love how those orange and browns catch your eye!

Grateful Heart Card

It's the 15th and time for another I Am Roses Challenge!!

Today, I made this beautiful THANK YOU card using gorgeous white and yellow flowers. And since summer is coming to an end, I thought I'd incorporate autumn colors into the mix.

I knew I wanted to create a 5"x7" card. 

So, I started with by cutting my craft paper down to 7" x 10". Then folded it in half creating a 5"x10 card. 

I matted it with white cardstock measuring 4 3/4" x 6 3/4".

And topped it with a piece of orange plaid paper measuring. 4 1/2" x 6 1/2".

 I die cut leaves from this green paper with white speckles using a leaf David Tutera's Eucalyptus & Flourish die from Sizzix.

Using one of the small Picket Fence Studio's Life Changing Blender Brushes I inked on Peeled Paint & Forest Moss Distress Oxide Inks.

Then, folded each leaf on their pre-scored crease line to give them more dimension.

I ran a 5' x 7" piece of white cardstock through my  Creative Station Lite.

Then, die-cut it using the Anna Griffin Flower Bramble die. First, by running it through my Big Shot, to cut it. Then again, with my green rubber sheet, to emboss all that gorgeous detail work.

I swiped Spiced Marmalade over top using a small narrow Life Changing Blender Brush. And snipped off a segment of the die-cut.

I used my Xyron Mega Runner to assemble and adhere to my card front. Then peeled off the protective film on the die-cut and attached it to the front of my card. 

Then I attached my leaves and flowers using a quick-drying glue.

I laid my leaves down, then built up my flower swag from there.

I attached the tiny White with Pale Yellow 2-Tone Paper Flowers onto the leaves.

Then, added a Large Rose, White Lily Paper Flower, & two

Cream Yellow Daisies. Making sure to curl each of their wired stems around a dowel rod first, before attaching it to the card (this gave it those cute little curls you sticking up).

I also die-cut and small oval using Pink & Main's Stitched Oval Dies. Then stamped the Sentiment "Grateful Heart" from Diamond Press' Thanks A Bunch Stamp Set with Versamark ink. Next, I  sprinkled Copper embossing powder over top and heat set it. Then, attached to the front of the card using foam adhesive.

And here is my finished card...
