Eileen Hull - Marker Forte August Stamp Release

 Hey, Crafty Friends!!

I'm so excited to finally share some awesome news...

Eileen Hull partnered up with Marker Forte to produce premium quality clear stamps!! How exciting, right??!!

Today, marks the launch of the first 3 stamp sets. In celebration of this occasion, the Inspiration and Education teams have collaborated to bring EH fans an assortment of creative ideas using these stamps!!

Here are a few projects I made with the NEW stamp sets...

The first card in my lineup uses

the stamp set...

I inked the library card stamp with Versafine black ink and stamped it onto white cardstock.

Then cut out it out and inked the cards with Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Inks.

Then I labeled one of the library cards "OVERDUE" (included in the set) stamping it in Candied Apple Distress Oxide ink.

Then stamped a couple of tickets onto coral Colored cardstock, cut them out, and inked the edges with more Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink.

I layered these Ephemera over Eileen Hull's beautiful Mandala die, surrounded them with flowers and leaves, and attached them to front of a 5"x7" card.

For this next card I used the
stamp set...
This patter measure 4"x 6" but as you can see I used it to create a slimline card.

I simply stamped the image twice. Getting the inked impressions as close as I can together without overlapping them.

The image doesn't make a continuous pattern...
But since I used Eileen's Mandala, no one will even see or notice it. I die-cut 2 Mandalas, 1 in a coral cardstock and 1 in white, and offset it a bit so the white peeks through on the side. Then laid it over the area where the pattern doesn't perfectly match. This creates an illusion that it is a continuous pattern.

I also incorporated the dainty wreath from Eileen's  Wreath and Snowflake die set, I die-cut 2 and stacked them directlyon each other for more dimension...

And I also added the William Wordsworth quote from the previously shown "Buttons, Cards, and More" set.

I stamped the background as well as the quote using Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink.

And last, but certainly not least, I created a bright and cheerful card using the
stamp set...

I loved the blocked grid frame. You can use it to put any of the included stamped images into the coordinating sized blocks. Or you can also as a interesting background stamp, like I've done below.

I've used the little flowers and leaves as accents, stamped multiples of each, then fussy cut them all out, and added a single flatback adhesived pearl to each flower center.

I grouped my flowers and leaves catty corner from each other.

And use a heart-shaped tag in the center. I inked the edges of my tag with Mustard Seed & Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide Inks.  Then tied a button topped bow on top.

In the center of the heart tag. I used the little solid heart stamp from the set stamped in more Carved Pumpkin ink.

I also stamped the word " Congratulations" in more Carved Pumkin ink and cut it into a thin strip.

And I attached both to the center of my heart.

I love how each of these card turned out. Each are so individually different and yet components from each set work so beautifully together!

If you're like me and can't decide on which one set to get, think about getting all three!! Eileen has a great deal on a bundle below...

IAR April 2021 Blog Challenge

Hey, Friends!! It's that time again! It's time for another I Am Roses Blog Challenge!
If you don't already know... Every 15th of the month, I Am Roses holds a Blog Challenge. To enter, all you have to do is create a project using I Am Roses products and link them up onto their blog. The winners of the challenge will receive gift vouchers to the I Am Roses website. More details are available on the IAR Blog.

Here is what I created for this month's challenge...

I Am Roses Products Used

Other Products Used
Sending Hugs Die Set (Diamond Press)
Faith-Based Foliage Dies- Berries (Diamond Press)
110 lb Cardstock- Greens, Cream (Recollections)
Shimmer Cardstock- Purple (DCWV)
Quik Grip Glue
Craft Foam

These deep purple (mauve) Indian Jasmine Rose are what really inspired this card. The darker hue really caught my eye and I built this card around those particular flowers. Usually, when creating, I build my project around the biggest flower... but not this time. This time I focused on the smaller deeper colored flowers and went through my stash to find the perfect accompaniment to them.

Even though it is smaller in stature, these Mauve Indian Jasmine Roses have a much bigger impact compared to the much larger Lavendar Sweet Moon Roses. Depth and richness of color will do that when laid alongside softer and more muted colors.

I added sprinkles of natural-white Achillea Cottage Flowers for balance and they actually pop from their lack of color since it's such a stark contrast.

Then, I kept my wired stems, created spiraled accents, and tucked them in between the flowers to act as a filler.

It looks like a little garden and I couldn't be happier with my results!

I hope you really enjoyed my Blog Challenge creation!!

Don't forget to head over to the I Am Roses Blog for more details on how to enter this month's challenge and to see what the rest of the team created!!

Until next time...
HAPPY CRAFTING!

How to make an album cover from a table placemat

Hi, Friends! I'm back with my as-promised tutorial of last week's Mini Album made from the New Eileen Hull Folio die. I will be breaking this tutorial into segments this time around. The entire project was just way too long to cram into a single tutorial. In today's segment, we will be covering how I made the outside cover of my album using a plastic table mat. Let's get started!

Supplies Used
Eileen Hull Folio Journal (Sizzix)
Eileen Hull Mandala  (Sizzix)
Big Shot Foldaway  (Sizzix)
Mat Board (Sizzix)
Vinyl Table Mat
Black Gesso (Golden)
Red Peonies (I Am Roses)
Red Rose Buds (I Am Roses)
Daisy Leaves (I Am Roses)
Red Crinkle Ribbon
Paint Brush
Kitchen Shears
Ruler
Fine Tip Permanent Pen

These are the two Eileen Hulls I used in today's tutorial...
The Folio Journal and...

The Mandala die.

I started with a plastic table mat I bought at my local dollar store. It was highly detailed with a lace-like pattern. But it was 1) plastic and 2) gilded gold and blindingly ugly (to me- seriously not my taste but I'm not knocking it if it's yours-seriously. To each his own).

I really loved the pattern and could easily envision it toned down and believed it would make a gorgeous cover.

I started by laying my mat board onto my mat and using it as a guide to cut the table mat into long enough strips to cover the back and front of my cover. I used a permanent pen to trace a thin line and then hand-cut the strips with kitchen shears. This material is somewhat thick and would have been too difficult for my crafting scissors to go through without overworking my hands. The serrated edges of kitchen shears, on the other hand, cut through the mat like butter.

I made sure to get the flowers all along the top edge onto one strip and the latticework all on the other.

Since both my mat and my mat board materials are on the thick side, I decided to die-cut them separately as to not overstress my machine. If the material you're cutting is too thick you could potentially break your machine if you force it.

Before die-cutting, I ran my mat board through my Xyron Creative Station. I covered both the back and front of 2 whole pieces of Sizzix mat board. I left the protective film on, then die cut my mat board piece with the Folio Album die. Then Die-cut the plastic mat strips, with the gold side down facing the die.

Once die-cut, you'll see the lined impressions left by the crease blades. I used a pen and ruler to enhance all these lines so I could see them better. Then used my kitchen shears once again and snipped apart my mat.

I only needed one spine of each side (pattern). I will be gluing the spines together so I needed full contact free of the mat in this section.

Then I removed the protective film off the mat board and individually added my mat pieces onto it.

The top row pictures below show the inside of the folio cover. The next row is for the front cover. Take notice the gap of bare matboard in the last picture, that is where the spines overlap and connect. Remember, the entire matboard is cover in adhesive already so all I have to do is press the pieces together and adhere the spine.

Once both the back and fronts were adhered to the mat board, I applied and completely covered it with black gesso. I waited until one side was dried before proceeding to the next side.

At this point, I'm very pleased. The cover looks tons better already just covered in black!

But I did want to accentuate that gorgeous detail. I used Sizzix's new Luster wax over the raised edges. I simply dipped my finger into the wax pot, dabbed or scraped off the excess, and rubbed the raised details of the table mat. I continued this until both the back and front were completely covered.

For the outside of the front cover, I die-cut a mandala from heavyweight cardstock. Because this is a heavily detailed die I made sure to line my cardstock with adhesive first before die-cutting and also die-cut it using a Sizzix Chrome Precision Plate.

I adhered it to a piece of patterned paper that I had previously used on another part of this project (it will come into play in another follow-up segment). Then cut it out with my craft scissors. Cutting a background helps to ground the mandala. I'll be adding this to my from cover and I didn't want the intricate details of the mandala fighting with the lacey details of the mat. Matting the mandala focuses your attention on the mandala and brings it to the forefront.

Up till this point, the cover has been very monochromatic. I wanted to give it a pop of color. and added a splash of RED with peonies and rosebuds. Then surrounded it with daisy leaves and sprinkled in tiny white flowers. I attached the flowers using Quik Grab adhesive, a heavy-duty glue that grabs almost immediately.

Then finished off my cover by adding a crinkle ribbon in a matching red color.

Here is my finished album cover...

I love how this turned out! The details of the mat are accentuated beautifully with that gorgeous luster wax!

I think that red color is striking against the black, don't you?!!

Well, that's it for this portion of the tutorial! I hope you enjoyed how I transformed my dollar store mat into a beautiful album cover!!

Stay tuned for the next installment of this tutorial! We will be diving into the GUTS of this folio album and working on all the inside pieces- POCKETS, TUCKS, PAGES, & MORE!!

Thanks for stopping by!!
And until next time...

HAPPY CRAFTING!
