Elegant Gift Tags That Say Thanks!

Hey, Crafty Friends... It's September 15th! 

That means it's time for another challenge at the I am Roses Blog!! And today I made a set of gorgeous gift tags. These would be a great accessory to a wonderful thank you gift. They are simple and elegant but with a pop of color that is striking! 

Let me show you how I created them, keep reading down below.

I started by creating the tag bases. I knew I wanted them to be frilly and eye-catching. 

I cut 2- 2.5"x 6" strips of white cardstock and ran them through my Xyron Sticker Maker. Then die-cut them using an intricate border dies by Diamond Press called Lace Borders.

I die cut the actual tag itself from both Kraft and white cardstock using the largest die from Tim Holtz's Tag Collection die set. 

I trimmed about a quarter-inch off the kraft tag and layered it onto the white tag using my Xyron Mega Runner.

Next, I peeled my lacy borders from their protective film and attached them onto the tag.

I used my MISTI to help me align my sentiments from the Diamond Press Thanks a Bunch stamp set. Once it liked the position I dusted my tag with an anti-static pouch, then inked up my stamp with Versamark ink and stamped directly onto the card.

I sprinkled clear embossing powder over the entire stamped sentiment and heat set it,

 

I set the tag aside. 

Then used Eileen Hull's Leaves, Spring dies to die cut leaves from red cardstock. I used only the top corner stemmed leaf and placed 3 layers of scrap paper on the die and cut them all out at the same time.

I inked the tips of the leaves using Distress Oxide ink in Black soot.

I repeated all the previous steps, this time, I swapped out the red cardstock for green and switched out the lacy flower border to a delicate butterfly border.

I also switched out the sentiment both are great "thank you" sentiments (and both come included in the thanks a bunch set)

And here is where the pop of color comes in...

After attaching the leaves onto the card, I build a little floral arrangement on each. 

I curled the stems of the flowers using a wooden skewer to create little swirly vines. Then attached the flowers onto the tag using a rally strong liquid adhesive.

Then scattered a few rhinestones here and there and attaching them using tiny amounts of more liquid adhesive.

Lastly, I attached a twine bow to each tag topped with a single button.

And here are my finished tags...

I really love how bold these colors look against the kraft and white cardstock. Because I used neutral colors as my base the color I did add really pops!!

Love My Tribe card with Jillibean & Xyron

Hi, Friends!

I'm back with Team Xyron and this week we are partnering up with Jillibean Soup to bring you all the pretty things!

 And I want to show you how I created this homage to those pretty sweet people that are near and dear to my heart; my clan, my adoptive family... MY TRIBE.

Paper Trimmer

For this card, I used Jillibean Soups Bohemian Brew Collection Pack. It's filled with polka dots, tropical florals, and retro minibusses! This is such a fun and cheerful collection!!

I decided to make my card 5"x 7" (folded) and cut the base out of black cardstock. 

I trimmed the papers to the following sizes:

Content (red polka dot) paper - 4 3/4" x 6 3/4".

Black cardstock #1 - 4"x 6"

Happiness (light teal flower) paper- 3 3/4"x 5 3/4"

Black cardstock #2 - 3 1/4"x 4 1/4"

Then I trimmed out the most perfect sentiment from the Bite Size Bits sheet (printed cards) that reads, "Love My Tribe". 

I ran each piece of cardstock and patterned paper through my Xyron Creative Station Lite machine, gave them a good burnishing then layered them.

Before adhering my sentiment, I punched out a few berry twigs and flowers. I used my Xyron Mega Runner to quickly attach them to the card front. Then, layered the sentiment onto the card. 

I added foam adhesive to the back of the flower punch out to give it a little dimension. Then attached it in between the berry stems.

Then, I added a bow made from hemp twine and topped it with a red button.

Then, Finally, I highlighted areas with my clear sparkle pen over the flowers and berries for some shine... because, let's face it, I need some sparkle!

And her is my finished card...

Just a subtle shine...

Tropicool Greetings- Hello Card

Hey, Crafty Friends!

Summer is at its end and the summer heat is finally dying down. That doesn't mean we can't still can't take advantage of all this beautiful sunshine. Its rays are inspiring and its vibrancy, mesmerizing! I'll let all that light soak in and fill me with joy. I find that people are often the product of their environment and are often what they surround themselves with. And personally, I LOVE to LOVE. I love to feel HAPPY. I love to LAUGH. I love ENERGY. I also find that when I'm filled with those things and give off those things, the people around me do too. 

Today, I'm sharing some LOVE with this BRIGHT & CHEERFUL Tropical Tucan Card using dies from Sizzix's Tropicool Collection by Lynda Kanase.

First, I gathered my materials...

Cardstock- Gray, Moss Green, White, Yellow (Open Stock- Hobby Lobby)

I started by spritzing down a 4.25" x 5.5" piece of white cardstock with clean water. Then, inserted it into the Tropical Leaves Textured Impression folder and ran it through my Sizzix Big Shot.

I removed it from the folder and let it dry. Then, applied Lettuce ink from Clearsnap's Boardwalk ColorBox Petal Point with a Colorbox Stylus and Tip.

Then, applied Olive (also from the Boardwalk PetalPoint) just over the raised areas.

I die-cut tucan pieces and monstera leaves using Lynda Kanase's Tropicool Banner dies by Sizzix. 

I die-cut the majority of the tucan from a light gray cardstock then added depth by inking and shading the body and wing. I used a ColorBox Stylus and Tip to apply Pewter ColorBox Premium Dye Ink all around the perimeter. Then darkened the shading by adding Black Bean ink on the edges using a ColorBox Art Dauber.

I die cut the feet and beak from yellow cardstock then shaded it with Coral ColorBox Premium Dye Ink. 

When the ink was completely dried, I layered and assemble the paper pieces to create the tucan. Then, I added foam adhesive to give the wing dimension. 

To finish the tucan, I used a white gel pen to draw highlights.

I die-cut the monstera leaves from green cardstock. Then, shaded it with Olive ColorBox Premium Dye Ink using a ColorBox Stylus and Tip.

I used the hibiscus die (also included in the Tropicool Banner set to cut white cardstock. I shaded the centers using Pink from the Enchanted ColorBox Petal Point and a small makeup brush.

Once the centers were completely dried, I spritzed each flower with water using a mini mister. Then, I twisted each petal to add texture and heat set them to hold the added dimension. 

I layered and adhered 2 flowers together using a clear drying liquid glue. Then added a dollop to each center and sprinkled on seed beads.

The beads were set once the glue turned clear.

I wrapped twine across the top of my card and tied it into a bow. 

Then, die-cut an oval from vellum using Sizzix's Stitched Ovals. I ran the oval through a Xyron Creative Station Lite and adhered it directly to the embossed card front.

I added small strips of foam adhesive to the back of the monstera leaves then positioned them around the oval.

I added more foam adhesive behind the tucan and attached it over the leaves. Then attached the flowers with liquid glue.

Finally, I die-cut my cards sentiment out of white and black cardstock. I used the "hello" die from Lynda Kanase's Card Front, Tropicool Leaves set and layered the two pieces together and slightly overlapping one of the die-cuts to give the appearance of a shadow.

Flamingos in the Tropics

Hey, Crafty Friends!! 

Boy, is it HOT! I don't know where Spring went but it's long gone and hiding!

My kids are already out for summer break and they are enjoying all the sunshine. swimming, running, lots of screaming laughter... that's what we're down for in these next couple of months. All of which reminds me of my of my childhood days growing up in Hawaii. Tropical weather and visits to the zoo where at the foot of the entrance gates flamingoes await visitors. Yup, those were the days. They were a bit stinky but those flamingos sure were pretty! Lots of these majestic birds standing on one leg or rubbing beaks, occasionally spreading their wings for a stretch. How I want to share memories like those with my children.

So, when Blank Page Muse released my good friend Pam Bray's newest stamp set, it brought back all kinds of feels! I immediately fell in love with these stamps!! And when Kim (owner of Blank Page Muse) and  Pam asked if I would like to create with these stamps, I literally squealed!! I've always loved Pam's designs and of course, I had to jump at the opportunity! What's even better is that all of these stamps are made of deeply etched red rubber! So I know the impression is gonna be amazingly crisp and clear! And boy, was I right! It makes a HUGE difference, especially with detailed stamps such as these!

And in the spirit of my childhood memories, I created this #10 sized Tropical Flamingo Card.

I started by stamping my faves from the set... FLAMINGOS!! I stamped them onto mixed media paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink.  Then colored in m images using my Tim Holtz Distress Markers. First coloring most of the bird with Worn Lipstick. I blended out the color using a water brush then went back in to add a second layer using Picked Raspberry to add more depth. Then colored the beaks with Hickory Smoke.

Once I was satisfied with my coloring and the images were completely dried, I cut out both flamingos by hand with scissors.

I die cut monstera leaves out of light green cardstock using Tim Holtz's Tropical Dies by Sizzix. I cut 3 leaves altogether.

Then shaded around the edges using Eileen Hull's Blends inks in Leaf, then in Frog.

After the ink was completely dried, I used a ball stylus to add dimension and shape the leaves.

Using the leftover scraps from my flamingoes, I stamped these little stemmed flowers using more Versafine ink. I didn't need the stems so stamping the entire stamp perfectly wasn't necessary. As long as all the flowers were intact I was good to go!

I colored these dainty flowers using, my Zigs in Bright Yellow, blended out toward the center with a water brush, then added Scarlet Red in the centers and blended outward with the water brush.

Once the flowers were all dried, I fussy cut them out, then creased each petal down the center to give them more dimension.

For the hibiscuses... again used dies from the Tropical set, and die cut from orange cardstock. I shaded along the edges using the Melon Blends ink.

I separated each petal from the flower and creased and folded them, then re-attached them to the cut-out centers with glue.

Disassembling them then re-assembling them gave them a whole lot more dimension.

For the card base, I cut patterned paper from PaperHouse's Sundrenched collection
to measure 3-3/4" x 9".

I used my Xyron Mega Runner to mount it onto a 4-1/8" x 9- 1/4" card base made from 110 lb white cardstock.

I  wanted a center focal point that wouldn't block out all that gorgeous ocean scenery. So, I die cut an oval out of vellum using Tim Holtz's Stitched Ovals. I ran the oval through my Xyron Crative Station with a 5" permanent refill cartritdge. Then adhered it to the card front.

I anchored the oval with a palm tree cut from black chalkboard paper die using the palm tree die from the same Tropical die set.

I attached foam adhesive sheets to the back of the flamingos and attached them to the oval then arranged the flowers and leaves and tucked in loops made from hemp twine.

I thought the "I'll stand by you... Today, Tomorrow, Always" sentiment went perfectly with this pretty pink couple. So I stamped it onto more mixed media paper and die cut it out using a label from the Tim Holtz Labels die set and shaded the edges with Eileen Hull's Sunshine blends ink.

And at the very last minute, I decided to re-mount the card front with a black mat mad with more of that deep black chalkboard paper. It gives a nice balance of black throughout the card, don't you think?!

2018 Stamping for Autism Awareness Blog Hop

Hi, Crafty Friends!! 
Today is Autism Awareness Day and I am participating in the 2018 Stamping For Autism Awareness Blog Hop! We are raising awareness and encouraging acceptance for individuals with Autism around the world.

We know that Autistic individuals don't communicate in a way that society deems normal. And sometimes everyday situations, easy tasks we take for granted, can be a struggle. But just because they are different doesn't mean they aren't capable. Capable to feel, to understand, or to do. They just have a different way of expressing themselves and communicating.

We are here to support and better understand our family and friends with Autism. And a great way to show support is to send words of encouragement. Just a little encouragement and "you can do it" can go a long way. You never know, a random act of kindness can mean the world to someone, no matter how small the gesture.

So, today I created this adorable card, especially for the hop.

 It goes to show that anyone can achieve great things!

I started by stamping my images from the Plane Sweet stamp set onto 140lb Mixed Media Paper with Black India Ink. 

Then colored them with Zig Clean Color Markers in:

No.43 - Olive Green, No. 46 - Mid Green, No. 72 - Beige, No. 64 - Oatmeal, No. 93 - Green Gray, No.91- Light Gray.

One of the many things I loved about this set is that there are little sentiments that fit right into this tiny banner... I used the one that says "take flight".

For my card base, I created a standard A2 (4.25" x 5.5"- folded) from white cardstock. I used the largest stitched rectangle to cut green striped chevron looking paper from the Spring Fling paper pad. Then I used the second largest banner from Large Fish Tail Banners to cut this blue polka dot paper from the Celebrate paper pad. Then I used the 5th largest circle (2.5") to cut plain white cardstock.

I layered the rectangle and banner onto my card front using my Xyron Mega Runner.

 Then shaded the edges of my circle die cute using Cape Cod (light blue) ink from the Boardwalk Petal Point Ink Pad.

I made little clouds from white cardstock and shaded the edges with Bahama dye ink.

Next, I stamped Sky's the limit onto more white cardstock and die cute it using a label from the Stitched Greetings Dies set. Then shaded around the edges using Olive (darker green) color, again from the Boardwalk ink pad.

I added 3D foam behind the little guy in the airplane and behind the banner.
Then arranged the circle and cloud onto the card. Then adhered the images to look like he was flying through the air.

I added more 3d dots to my sentiment and attached it to the bottom of the card.

Then, finally, tied hemp twine around the top of the card and topped with a button topped bow.
