Bloom & Grow

Happy Friday! Today is a special day... It is my mommy's birthday!!! The big 6-0!! And so today I will be spending the day with her. But before I go I wanted to share with you this week's Design on Cloud 9 newsletter project.

I used Design's on Cloud 9's Sunflower Garden set for the bears and sunflowers. And, for the scalloped frame and mat I used the Scallops file set.

I just love making their eyes! I've been making the eyes HUGE on my creations lately. They almost look like the eyes on  brats doll with out the colorful make-up... or at least
I think so.

I lined all the bears eyes and hand-drew their eye lashes and eye brows.

All the mouths were hand-drawn and each bear has a different mouth.

\

I love the girl bear's clothes. I love her a little apron, stockings, and her darling Mary Jane shoes!

I stuck in a couple of cute little lady bugs.

Everywhere you look it's sunflowers galore!!

Love these scalloped mats too... Shoot, I love pretty much everything about this layout!

I think this is my new favorite... hehehe!!

And, I just posted it for sale on ebay!!
Check it out here!!

Well, there yo have it!

Fall themed Design Challenge

Continued from previous post...

Last week Design on Cloud 9 had a scrap challenge. The challenge was to make a project using their "freebie" file of the week. Winner was chosen at random for a $10 gift certificate to their website. I took on the challenge and played along. And, of course, I didn't win. Well, since I'm on the design team I think it automatically disqualifies me. It was fun anyway!

Here is the freebie file that was used:

It's called Scrapbook Layout #6. (This file was only free during the week of the challenge)

And here is my take on the challenge:

I decided to change it up a bit. I used the same elements in the layout but re-purposed them. I like being able to take things and make it my own. And, who said we were limited to just that one file?! I used DC9's Nuts About You file(bow not included with file). Threw in a splash of pink to tone the oranges and brown... I didn't want a traditional fall layout and the pink was a great choice! Lastly, because it was a simple layout I decided to emboss throughout to add some interest.

All the squirrels in this set looked like boys so I added a bow from another set to the top of her head... and ta-dah, instant girl. then added, of course, embossing. Love how something so small made her very feminine!

Lovin' the pink!

I love the houndstooth!

I even embossed the photo corners.

Tags easily come out of the pocket for journaling.

Hope you all liked my take on last weeks challenge. And, don't forget, Design on Cloud 9 started there weekly challenges back up. Check out their fan page every Friday for each new challenge and the results of the winner of the previous challenge. Each challenge runs from Friday till the next Thursday. You'll have until 5pm est to submit your project to the Design on Cloud 9 Facebook fan page. The winner will receive a $10 gift certificate to the DC9 website.

Good Luck Everyone! And, I can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Happy Crafting!!

Halloween Treat Bags

I'm in slap forehead mode! I totally forgot to post this on my blog last week. And, to add insult to injury I had two project to share!

Halloween is fast approaching... and with Kyan being in the first grade it's time to up the ante. Last year I topped off giant pixie stix with bat cut outs, which I thought came out
cute... until I saw what the other mom's made. Popping my big crafty bubble and squashing all hopes of mother of the year. Sigh.

This year didn't want to look like I didn't put no effort into it. I definitely didn't want an overkill either. So I opted to make toppers for goody bags. I used A2 sized cello resealable envelopes as my bag and filled it with assorted Halloween treats (Halloween themed pencils, erasers, plastic jewelry, and of course candy).

Here is how it turned out.

I used Design on Cloud 9 files to make all the shapes here. The topper itself is from the Short Borders 2 set. The scalloped circles are from the Scallops set. For the centers I used Haunted House Silhouettes, Cemetery Silhouettes, Skullies, & Haunted Halloween Party (retired) sets.

I did not fold the topper over like traditional bag toppers... instead I opted to just use it as a front and stapled it to the front of the bag along the top. I saved on paper this way. Then  I covered the staple up with the scalloped circle. And, ta-dah, instant treat bags! I also adhered sticker labels to the back. This did two things... covered up the sharp side of the staple and let the recipient know who the goodies came from.

These were super easy to make. The hardest and time consuming part was deciding which shapes to use for the centers.

Project #2 to be continued... I'm off to pick up my munchkin from school!

See you all real soon!

Strawberry Shortcake Inspired Card - You're Berry Sweet

Ok. So, I'm been majorly slacking.  I've have hardly craft all last month. I wouldn't say I've been in a slump or have crafter's block or anything like that... I have lots of ideas going & "designed" several layouts... it's just I lack the motivation to cut them out and put them together.

Well, that changed last night. I saw DC9's new files, one in particular, and it hit me... I said to myself, "I need to make that!". I also need to make it quick in order to meet my design team deadline.

I came up with this super adorable 6"x6" card...

I used the following files from Designs on Cloud 9: Costume Kids Set 2 (Strawberry Shortcake - kid #2), Doilies (Doily - Doily 123),  Fancy Corners ( Daisies - Corner 12), & Berry Title (Strawberry).

The Costume Kids Set 2 also has this really cute Doc McStuffins look-a-like girl in the set. I love love love this set!!! You can find it here.

Don't forget Friday's freebie...

You can find it here.

And last but not least... I'm working on some centerpieces and decorations for a friend who is throwing their daughter a huge sweet 16 party... theme : Candy!! SWEET!!

Here's a sneak peek at what I started to make...

Faux Lollipops!!

Thaanks for stopping by!
Happy crafting everyone!!
