A Bright & Cheery HELLO Card

Hello, Crafty Friends!! I'm popping in to share another creative project I created with Team Xyron.
This week we are partnering up with our good friends at Deep Red Stamps! If you don't own Deep Red Stamps you should! I'm totally in love with their stamps. Their red rubber cling stamps give a crisp impression each and every time! The results are simply amazing!! And I've created this gorgeous card to show you just how amazing they are!

Supplies Used
Florence Centerpiece  (Deep Red Stamps)
Butterfly Flourish  (Deep Red Stamps)
Mega Runner (Xyron)
Big Shot (Sizzix)
Tim Holtz Friendship Words Block (Sizzix)
140 lb Mixed Media Paper (Strathmore)
Corrugated Stack (DCWV)
Chalkboard Stack (DCWV)
India Ink (Clearsnap)
ColorBox Petal Point- Boardwalk (Clearsnap)
Clean Color Real Brush Markers (Zig/Kuretake)
3D Dots (EK Success)
Mixed Media Glue
Red Crinkle Ribbon

I started by stamping the Butterfly Flourish stamp image with Black India Ink onto Mixed Media Paper using a stamping tool. I'm a notoriously bad stamper, so I almost always use some sort of stamping tool to assist me. But I found that these stamps gave a beautiful impression the first time around even with my klutzy hands and there was no need for restamping.

I, then, colored the image using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers in:
No.052 Bright Yellow, No.070 Orange, No. 023 Scarlet- for the butterfly.
No. 046 Mid Green- for the flourishes.
No.064 Oatmeal & No.072 Beige - for the circle background
and
No.091 Light Gray & No.096 Mid Gray- for the rectangular plate.

I stamped the image a second time, this time only coloring the butterfly.

Then, I cut another piece of Mixed Media Paper to measure 3-1/4" x 8-7/8". I stamped the Florence Centerpiece Stamp, again, using Black India Ink. Using my stamping tool, I stamped the image about a third of the way down.  Then flipped my paper upside down and stamped again, creating a mirrored image on the opposite side.

Then colored these gorgeous floral bouquets in:
No. 020 Red, No.022 Carmine Red, & No. 029 Geranium Red- for the roses and rosebuds.
No.052 Bright Yellow, No.070 Orange, No. 023 Scarlet- for the hibiscus.
No.052 Bright Yellow, No.070 Orange, No. 023 Scarlet, & No.050 Yellow- for the daisies.
No.046 Mid Green & No.043  Olive Green- for all the leaves and stems.
and No.046 Oatmeal for shadows.

I used a blending stylus and tip to shade the perimeter of my card front with Dune and Espresso ink.

Then I went back to my two butterfly images. I cut out he fully colored image around flourishes. And the second image, I cut out the butterfly. I glued just the thoraxes (bodies/ abdomens) together and lifted the wings for a 3D look.

For even more dimension, I added 3D dots to the back of the image.

I wrapped crinkle ribbon around the center of my cardstock, I used a Mega Runner to fasten it to the back before sending the entire thing through the Xyron Creative Station.

I then added my butterfly image and a tied bow to the center.

I cut a piece of black chalkboard paper to measure 3-3/8" x 9" and ran it through my Xyron Creative Station. Then layered and adhered them all to a #10  (3-7/8"x 9-1/4") sized card made from corrugated cardstock.

I used more chalkboard paper to die-cut the word hello. Then attached them to the bottom of my card front. I used an acrylic stamping block with a grid to help with alignment and placement.

And here is my finished card...

This card really WOWs!!

The colors are so bright that they demand attention! And with gorgeous stamps like these, they ought to get it!!

I hope you all enjoyed today's project and have
a BRIGHT, CHEERFUL, & absolutely GORGEOUS day!!

Until next time...
HAPPY CRAFTING!!

Pineapple Picking (Paper Edition)

Hi, Crafty Friends! I'm baaaaack!! Back again with Team Xyron and lots of crafty fun!!
This week we'll be partnering up with Paper House and sharing with you all cool creations made with their awesome paper collections and Xyron adhesive.

Today, I'm feeling tropical! I took one look at these foiled sheets and just knew exactly what I was going to make!

I've always been an island girl. In fact, I was born on an island then raised on another island. In fact, if it weren't for meeting my husband, I'd probably still be there now. Growing up, when we would have P.E. class, we would do these exercises called "Picking Pineapples". It consisted of us standing with our feet spread apart, then bending over touching the ground 3 times with both hands, once in front, below, and slightly behind you. We called them "Picking Pineapple", the rest of the US probably knows them better as "Cherry Pickers"! LOL

So, after taking a trip down memory lane, I bring you my version of Picking Pineapples- Paper Edition!! No bending or sweating involved!! HAHAHA! Don't tell anyone but I sat on my butt the whole time!

I used papers from Paper House's Sun Drenched Paper Pad to create today's fun project.

Supplies Used
Sun Drenched Paper Pad (Paper House)
Tape Runner (Xyron)
Eclips 2 (Sizzix)
Pineapple Box SVG File (Lori Whitlock)
ColorBox Premium Dye Inkpad- Olive (Clearsnap)

I knew right away that I wanted to use Pineapple Box SVG file I had by Lori Whitlock.

I loaded it into my software. and it looked like the picture of the left. I wanted at least cut two boxes from one 12"x 12" piece of paper. So, I resized it to 8.5" wide (with the keep proportions box checked).

I like to cut each like-colored shapes together. To do this, I right clicked and selected "ungroup". then removed the pineapple crown.

Then, I right clicked, clicked "copy" then clicked "paste". I rotated my second image so that both could fit the cutting mat.

I saw yellow and gold patterned paper in the pack and immediately it screamed PINEAPPLES at me!! The color and pattern were absolutely PERFECT!

I inserted it on my cutting mat into my machine and hit "cut".

I folded and creased all the crease lines and used my Xyron Tape Runner on all the tabs to adhere. This little guy packs some serious adhesive punch!!

Each pineapple needs 2 crowns. 1 regular and one mirrored. Just highlight what you want to be mirrored, right click, click "transform", then "flip horizontal (mirror)". Then multiplied as needed.

And as luck would have it, on the very next pages to my yellow and gold paper, this palm tree leaf/frond paper. I took each mirrored frond pair and attached them together with mire tape runner. Making sure to lay one regular cut and one mirrored cut back to back. Again, PERFECT!! Well, sort of.

First, it needed a tad bit more color. So, I inked it with ColorBox Olive dye ink smoothed and evened out the color using my stylus tool. Now, look how gorgeous these crowns are!! And the fronds pattern gives them the look of textured leaves too!

Each box contains a slit on top. To add the crown to the box simply insert into the slit, fold back the crease line and adhere to the under side of the box lid.

And tah-dah... here are my awesomely funky pineaaple treat boxes...

I filled each of these with yummy chocolated but you can put whatever you like.

And these would totally be a hit at a Luau themed event or party!!!

I hope you enjoyed today's project! Who knows, maybe they will inspire you to do your own paper pineapple pickin'!!
Whoa, that's a mouthful! Hahaha!!

Till next time...
HAPPY CRAFTING, EVERYONE!!

Just a hint of Spring - Matted Wrap Journal

Hi, Crafty Friends!!
Spring is here... It has been playing mean tricks on people but it's here!! Well, at least in my area it's here! And my lawn is growing like crazy and my backyard is in need of some major trimming!! But with all this growth comes all the beautiful wildflowers. I love wildflowers so that's a major plus!

Speaking of plus... I've been meaning to make another matted journal! I didn't forget, I promise just ridiculously busy! Who would've known that the creative life could be so busy??!!

So, here it is, finally!! And it's a WRAP AROUND JOURNAL TOO!!

Supplies Used
Eileen Hull Wrap Journal (Sizzix)
Eileen Hull Passport Die (Sizzix)
Mat Board (Sizzix)
Plastic Table Mat
Black Chalkboard Paint (Prima Marketing)
Tangerine Berry Blossom (PrimaMarketing)
Beads & Chains (Prima Marketing)
Metal Flower Embellishment (Momenta)
Acrylic Heart Charms
Magnetic Discs
2 mm Black Elastic Cord
110 lb White Cardstock

I started with die-cutting a piece of Sizzix Mat Board using Eileen Hull's Wrap Journal and a Big Shot machine. This is an XL die, so you'll need extended cutting plates. The cutting area is also VERY LONG! It cuts the mat board from end to end!

I did not die cut my plastic mat. Instead, I cut it into segmented panels. The only piece I cut to exact size was the center panel. I wanted the texture of the mat to completely cover that center piece. But the two end flaps I just made sure that scalloped edge was incorporated onto that area with a  bit of a gap to the edge.

Then, I ran the table mat through my Xyron Creative Station Lite. Then gave it a good burnishing with a bone folder before peeling it off and applying them to my mat board.

Once it was applied to the matboard, I trimmed off any overhang with a pair of non-stick scissors.

Next, I cut my inserts and pages. I found that Eileen Hull's Passport Die's pages fit PERFECTLY!  And because it's a steel rule die, I was able to cut multiple pages at a time.  I cut a combination of white, black, cream, and patterned papers to make my inserts.

I strung them together with just a little bit of twine tied into a basic knot. Then set them aside.

I covered the front of wrap journal cover with black chalkboard paint. I heat set it to speed up the drying then flipped it over and painted the back (inside) of the cover.

Using my finger as an applicator, I rubbed Pebeo Guilding wax over top. it really made all textured details pop!

I string elastic through the spine of the journal cover. These are to hold the inserts in place. I didn't do anything fancy, no fancy weaving in and out, just a single strand through each pair of holes tied together with a basic knot.

I trimmed the excess off and slid an insert under each elastic band.

I tied some beaded charms down the spine. I used a jump ring to anchor them to the two center holes.

Then, added a double magnet closure. This will ensure that the wrap journal stay closed and secure.

Here's a little peek at the inside of my journal.

I didn't want to take away from all the beautiful texture so I" kept the embellishment to a minimum with a just a small leaf, budded stem, and metal flower.

And here is my finished Wrap Journal.

Mother nature is playing games this year and can't seem to make up her mind. A lot of my friends still have snowfall. That is just insane!! And the weather here,...we'll have sunshine and 80 degree temps one day and severe thunderstorms and flash flood warnings in effect for the next. Seriously, with screwy weather and temps fluctuating 40 degrees day by day (sometimes on the same day) no wonder people get sick!

This journal reminds me of this years Spring... kind of dark but a little glimpse of green! I'm hoping Spring will be here soon for EVERYONE! I love snow but there's a time when all good things come to an end. Besides, flowers are better than snowflakes any day!! Hahaha!

Hope you all enjoyed this tutorial!
Happy Spring

2018 Stamping for Autism Awareness Blog Hop

Hi, Crafty Friends!!
Today is Autism Awareness Day and I am participating in the 2018 Stamping For Autism Awareness Blog Hop! We are raising awareness and encouraging acceptance for individuals with Autism around the world.

We know that Autistic individuals don't communicate in a way that society deems normal. And sometimes everyday situations, easy tasks we take for granted, can be a struggle. But just because they are different doesn't mean they aren't capable. Capable to feel, to understand, or to do. They just have a different way of expressing themselves and communicating.

We are here to support and better understand our family and friends with Autism. And a great way to show support is to send words of encouragement. Just a little encouragement and "you can do it" can go a long way. You never know, a random act of kindness can mean the world to someone, no matter how small the gesture.

So, today I created this adorable card, especially for the hop.

It goes to show that anyone can achieve great things!

Pink and Main Supplies Used

Other Supplies Used
Strathmore 140 lb Mixed Media Paper
Recollections 110 lb White Cardstock
Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers
3d Dots
Hemp Twine
Button

I started by stamping my images from the Plane Sweet stamp set onto 140lb Mixed Media Paper with Black India Ink.

Then colored them with Zig Clean Color Markers in:
No.43 - Olive Green, No. 46 - Mid Green, No. 72 - Beige, No. 64 - Oatmeal, No. 93 - Green Gray, No.91- Light Gray.

One of the many things I loved about this set is that there are little sentiments that fit right into this tiny banner... I used the one that says "take flight".

For my card base, I created a standard A2 (4.25" x 5.5"- folded) from white cardstock. I used the largest stitched rectangle to cut green striped chevron looking paper from the Spring Fling paper pad. Then I used the second largest banner from Large Fish Tail Banners to cut this blue polka dot paper from the Celebrate paper pad. Then I used the 5th largest circle (2.5") to cut plain white cardstock.

I layered the rectangle and banner onto my card front using my Xyron Mega Runner.

Then shaded the edges of my circle die cute using Cape Cod (light blue) ink from the Boardwalk Petal Point Ink Pad.

I made little clouds from white cardstock and shaded the edges with Bahama dye ink.

Next, I stamped Sky's the limit onto more white cardstock and die cute it using a label from the Stitched Greetings Dies set. Then shaded around the edges using Olive (darker green) color, again from the Boardwalk ink pad.

I added 3D foam behind the little guy in the airplane and behind the banner.
Then arranged the circle and cloud onto the card. Then adhered the images to look like he was flying through the air.

I added more 3d dots to my sentiment and attached it to the bottom of the card.

Then, finally, tied hemp twine around the top of the card and topped with a button topped bow.

And here is my finished card...

I hope you enjoyed my project for today and it inspires you, not just creatively, but it inspired you to raise awareness for those with Autism. Encourage others. Educate yourselves and others on how they to can raise awareness.

Here are a couple of organizations that do just that...

And here are a few fabulous designers in today's line up...
